HOLY ESQUE-HOUSE OF HOUNDS
Band Of The Week. Holy Esque
We recently featured Holy Esque’s new single ‘St’ on the blog. Since then we’ve discovered the self titled EP and have concluded Holy Esque are an incredible band with an exciting future ahead of them. So for that reason we’ve made Holy Esque our Band Of The Week. So if you missed our first brief feature,…

After the release of their 2016 debut At Hope’s Ravine, Scotland’s Holy Esque return to their murky, intense best on their latest single ‘I Am The Truth’ as sharp reverb cuts through eerie tremors and a menacing thump, a haunted Pat Hynes torn apart by rage, fear and self-loathing as his demons come to greet him from the shadows.
Delightfully spooky stuff ʘ‿ʘ
‘I Am The Truth’ is from Holy Esque’s upcoming album Television/Sweet, out June 8. Read the review for At Hope’s Ravine here.

If anything, it’s the most joyful I’ve ever heard Holy Esque, though the roughened-and-warped vocals of frontman Pat Hynes can admittedly be kinda jarring. You’re either going to love this or you won’t, but in a strange kinda way I find it growing on me...
Did you know Holy Esque released their debut album At Hope’s Ravine? It’s out now! :D

You’ve recently played in the USA, how did crowds there compare to say those in Glasgow? Is there a noticeable difference? Kier: Yeah, I think it’s different. I think it can be more difficult at home obviously because you’re from Glasgow; a lot of the time, the people at the gigs, you can quite often recognise and know. It’s nice to be in a new place, where you’re playing to people who you’re new…

Live Review: Holy Esque – Glasgow
Holy Esque Glasgow Art School, 7th May 2016 Words: Gary Feeney Usually when I come across a new band who I really like, I’ll end up spending ages watching all sorts of live videos on YouTube; especially so, if I know I’m going to see them. For whatever reason though, I never quite got round to checking out Holy Esque in such a way prior to their biggest ever hometown show at Glasgow’s Art School…
