“I have had enough, Lord,” he (Elijah) said. The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." I Kings 19:11
The mountain top has always been a place of holy encounters. Moses, Elijah and even Jesus went up to the mountain top to seek God.
The pulling away. The leaving behind. The intentional seeking. The waiting.
These seem to be essential components for powerful, life-changing appointments with God.
There is an innate longing within us — a desperate need for holy encounters — when heaven touches earth and the Lord passes by.
When I’m paying attention, my restless soul tells me when I need to pull away and find sacred space — a place of sanctuary for the body, soul, mind and spirit to seek the Presence of the Lord.
If you are feeling fearful or weary, and you’ve had enough, climb up to the mountaintop or fall to your knees... and LISTEN.
Hear the Lord tenderly ask, “What are you doing here beloved?”
And we discover God cares and has not left us, and He never will.
Where is your sacred space to encounter God?
Find a quiet place and pour out your heart before the Lord.
