The sharp cracking of fireworks surrounds the stadium as youâre swiftly ushered backstage. A smile aches across your cheeks, your skin is flushed from singing along, and a sticky, sweet taste lines your mouth.
âInto The Sunâ is over, and ARMYs are screaming as BTS exit the stage. The popping reverberates in your chest, and youâre almost tempted to swivel your head to catch a glimpse of the showâs colorful conclusion. Unfortunately for you, the security guard paving your way through the crowd seems to be in quite a rush, so you follow earnestly, laughing softly under your breath.Â
It can be a bit tricky to get out of the stadium before the band leaves and probably is worse this time around considering itâs the last show in Las Vegas. Tomorrow, youâre set to head back to Seoul for a break from touring.Â
God knows the boys need it. The tour has been incredible, but definitely taxing. For them, and for you. Dating an idol, Kim Namjoon no less, has its highs and lows.Â
You met Namjoon just over four years ago, a few months before BTS announced their hiatus. At the time, you worked in the music industry and met at an event through a mutual friend. The rest, as they say, is history.Â
The man leading the way pushes open a door that reads STAFF in giant yellow letters. The noise behind is muffled, and you can hear your heavy breathing. You chuckle again, smiling to yourself. Watching your boyfriend perform never gets old.Â
Rushed voices in Korean and English echo around the backstage area. The screams of the concert are replaced by a different kind of excitement. Your eyes dart through the throng of people, searching for a certain sweaty tall man with blond highlights.Â
âBaby!â A low voice calls to your left. You whirl around, short skirt of your concert outfit swirling with your spin. You chose a particularly cute outfit for this last concert: an RM jersey from the tour merch, a fluffy white miniskirt, and your favorite pair of black boots.Â
Namjoon is sitting in a chair in the green room, long legs sprawled in front of him in a wide manspread, hair all ruffled and sticking up in ten different directions. His tan skin is smooth over his cheekbones, and his pink lips are set in a smirk. His mouth twists into a wide smile when you make eye contact. You bite your lip. Heâs always ridiculously sexy after a concert.Â
You slip into the green room, a soft smile gracing your lips.Â
âHi, Joonie!â Your voice echoes into the quiet room. His smile grows a bit, eyes sparkling. He raises an eyebrow and stretches out his arms, beckoning you into a sweaty hug.Â
âYou were amazing,â you say, opting to stand between his legs rather than fully embrace him. You lay two hands on his broad shoulders. His arms are bare in his tank top, sweat dripping onto the ground.Â
âThank you,â Namjoon says, âitâs because you were watching me!âÂ
His hands trail up and down your sides before taking up residence at your hips. You laugh, somehow, despite the tingling his touch sends down your legs.Â
âYou say that every time, my love,â you tilt your head at him, eyes crinkling. Something flashes in his dark eyes, and he squeezes your hips in his big hands.Â
He pulls you closer, voice lowering despite the lack of people near you, âyou know, I should be angry with you.â
Your heart jumps, alarm bells ringing in your head.Â
âHow was I supposed to focus on the songs when I could see you,â Namjoon continues, âin your outfit. In my jersey. In that tiny skirt.â
You freeze, the tingling in your legs shooting up to your core. His strong hands move down to your ass.
âWhat was I supposed to do, baby?â He repeats, looking at you through his lashes.Â
âMaybe you shouldnât have looked so much,â you lean in imperceptibly to whisper in his ear, hands stroking his warm shoulders.Â
He squeezes your ass, one hand slipping under your skirt. Your breath hitches.Â
âLove how sensitive you are,â he whispers back when you shiver at his touch. Your eyes flutter closed when his fingers trace to the back of your thigh.Â
âNamjoon. Not here.â You choke out, but youâre not moving from his arms.Â
âClose that door for me, hm?â He hums into your cheek, tapping your ass lightly under your skirt.Â
You hesitate for half a second, your heart racing, before glancing over your shoulder. The hallway outside is still loud: voices passing, footsteps echoing, the distant hum of post-concert chaos.
âNo oneâs coming in?â you ask, barely above a whisper. Namjoon just watches you, eyes dark, steady.
That does it.
You reach back and push the door shut. When you turn back around, heâs leaning back in his chair, looking at you down his nose.
âHappy now?â you ask, trying for teasing, even as your pulse betrays you. You settle back between his strong thighs.Â
âMuch.âÂ
Your beautiful boyfriend reaches his hands back to your hips. Four years of dating, and the air still chokes you with tension in these moments. You raise an eyebrow at him, heart pounding.Â
When his full lips finally catch yours in a passionate kiss, you can feel the hunger that mustâve built in him during the show. There is no easing into it; his tongue pries open your lips almost immediately. You groan.Â
A hand finds its way back to your ass, grasping tightly. Another trails up to your jaw. You let your hands wander across his shoulders, his chest, his neck. Youâre starving for each other, post-concert adrenaline intensifying your lust.Â
Itâs a passionate fight between your lips. You push into him, rubbing against his growing hardness through his pants. Despite the thrill of someone walking in at any second, he holds you with a strength that promises your safety. Youâre content in his arms. But you want more.Â
Namjoon jumps at the opportunity when you ease a knee onto his chair and pulls you into his lap. Your knees brace on either side of his strong thighs, holding yourself just above him. Closer than ever, Namjoon groans into the kiss. You feel it in the heat pooling in your stomach.Â
âSo beautiful,â he murmurs as he tilts his head down to leave chaste kisses on your neck. His hands are kneading the soft flesh of your ass, trailing lower and lower to where you need his most. Your body is on fire, head leaning back to give him more room.Â
Namjoon nips at the sensitive skin of your neck. Heâs leaving purple marks like a horny teenager. You remove a hand from his shoulder as you muffle your moans and gasps.Â
âNeed you so bad, baby,â Namjoon whispers through his kisses and your moans. His hands are underneath you now, teasing at your heat. He slips a long digit inside of you, your wetness squelching salaciously around him. The air is thick with heat when his thumb finds your clit and starts to rub in tandem with his now moving finger. You arch into him, moaning fully, the coil in your stomach winding tight. Â
âThen have me,â you say, barely. You grind your hips into his hand, letting yourself rest your weight on his lap. Heâs added another finger, pumping his hand in and out of you, hitting that soft spot inside you every time. Your head falls to his shoulder, overcome with the pleasure heâs giving you
âJoon, pleaseââ you start, cutting yourself off with a gasp as your hips buck into his. Youâre close. His hardness presses into you, and his fingers speed up when you donât finish your question.Â
âPlease, what, baby?âÂ
âNeed you,â you grunt into his neck.
Namjoon wastes no time pushing the waistband of his pants down his thighs. In one quick motion, his briefs are out of the way and his cock springs up to his stomach. You groan.Â
For a brief second, his hands are gone from inside you, and youâre groaning at the emptiness. Before you can whine his name in protest, heâs lifting you up by your hips and easing you onto his hardness.Â
The stretch is there, but itâs not painful. The fullness this position helps you achieve fills your heart, too. Your man. Your talented, sexy, gorgeous man. The two of you pause, breathing heavily, staring into each others eyes as you adjust to his size.Â
âI love you so much, baby,â Namjoon murmurs, eyes closing briefly as he presses a sweet kiss to your lips. You shuffle your hips on his, and he groans loudly.Â
âLove you, too, Joonie,â you whine, breathless, as you start to ride him. His hands are on your hips, squeezing your ass, moving up your waist and over your neck to grasp your hair between his lithe fingers.Â
Neither of you will last long: heâs tightly wound from the show, and you were already so close. When he pulls your hair, you feel your walls flutter around his thick cock.Â
âSo tight for me,â he groans, bucking up into you. You move your hips faster, chasing the friction on your clit. The tension in your belly threatens to snap.Â
You bite back a scream when he grabs your hips and rocks you, his cock twitching inside of you.Â
âIâm so close,â Namjoon says, and you moan your agreement. Your hands travel from his shoulders down his chest and back up again, feeling his toned lines and hard muscles as they tense under your touch. Heâs sweaty, but now you are, too. The pressure is suddenly too much for you. Your legs spasm on either side of him.Â
âCome with me, baby,â he growls, moving you harshly as he fucks into you. You moan loudly, and the tension finally breaks, walls milking his twitching cock as your orgasm hits.Â
Namjoon groans, low and drawn-out, when his climax hits him. Heâs gripping your waist tightly, hips stuttering to a stop as he whines your name into your chest.Â
In the post-coital silence, he holds onto you like a lifeline. You stroke his short hair back from his sweaty forehead and press a kiss there.
âLove you so much,â he whispers, afraid to break the silence.Â
âAnd I, you,â you smile down at him. Heâs softening inside of you. You feel your joint fluids dripping from your folds obscenely. Â
He breathes out a low laugh.Â
âWhat a mess,â Namjoon whispers, eyes flickering with humor and exhaustion. You chuckle at your boyfriend, now soft and huggable and sleepy. Such a stark difference from just seconds before.Â
âLetâs get cleaned up, my love,â you say finally, kissing him sweetly as you slip off of him.Â
He sighs dramatically. âYouâre really going to make me move?â
âUnless you want someone to walk in and see exactly what a mess you made,â you smirk at him.Â
He huffs a laugh, pushing himself up to follow you. He shrugs.Â
â.đ Ì Summary â You surprise your boyfriend Jungkook at his concert
Pairings â idol!bf!Jungkook x poc!fem!gf!reader
â.đ Ì warnings â fluff, just kook and reader being adorable hehe, slightly suggestive but itâs barely there, teasing, happy ending, this is just self indulgent because Iâve been seeing SO many concert vids recently and I couldnât help myself unfortunately
Excitement couldnât even cover how you were feeling.
You had booked your flight, concert ticket bought, and now here you wereâon your way to the stadium.
A small nervousness settled in your stomach as you walked next to a few guards, seeing you werenât too far from the entrance.
You had told the boys you were coming, at least six of them. There was one member that didnât know you were coming. And that was your boyfriend, Jungkook.
The thought makes you smile to yourself, knowing there were so many girls out there that dreamed at night of being in your shoes, being with one of the biggest idols in the world and attending his groups concert.
To this day you still donât know how your with someone like him, someone so kind, so filled with love and he chose to share that love with her.
You were his, and you still couldnât believe it after so many years.
You were now entering the stadium, the guards the boys provided for you letting you go find your seat. Luckily you were able to get a seat in the VIP section of the stadium, just so you would be able to have a close-up experienceâand so you could surprise Jungkook when he saw you.
Once you found your seat, you felt the nervousness build againâchoosing to distract yourself by checking you had everything you needed. You decorated army bomb, a black bow wrapped around its handle. Your purse, which had your boyfriendâs photocard attached to it. Your outfit was near perfect as wellâleather jacket, a black corset top under and a leather skirt to match.
It was pretty obvious from afar who your bias is if anyone asked, and that was your goal.
After what felt like hours of waiting, and getting to talk to different armyâs around you (even getting a few freebies for yourself) the sun had finally began to set and stars began to appear in the night sky. The stage was lit up, each stage screen showing the boys appearing in their black outfits and colored mics.
Hooligan started to play throughout the stadium, your personal favorite from their new album.
Girls around you screamed and hollered, waving their army bombs in the air. You did the same, the biggest of smiles on your face as you sung along to each and every verse.
Aliens played next, another one of your favorites. Eventually you see Jungkook appear, his charisma serious and fierce. He was truly something else on stage, so confident in the way he danced and sung.
From the ê°ë to the í, ì°ëŠŹ ëłŽêł ë°°ì ë, yeah, we aliens
If you wanna hit my house, ì ë°ì ëČìŽ ë, yeah, we aliens
You could hear Jungkookâs voice loud and clear, just hearing him sing sending shivers down your spine.
âYes baby!â you yelled without even thinking about it, you couldnât help but hype up your man while he did his thing on stage.
âGirl I know he sounds so good!â a girl next to you spoke, completely oblivious as she went back to cheering and singing.
You giggled silently to yourself. Only if she knew the man she was screaming her heart out for was the exact same man youâd been dating for years.
Hours went by just as fast as the songs did, your throat tired from all the screaming and singing you did in those few hours.
But you were having fun regardless seeing your close friendâs and boyfriend doing what they loved most after not being able to do it at all for a while.
Eventually the last song came, Into The Sun.
You had played that song countless of times, especially now that Jungkook was touring and that meant not being able to see him for some time. Listening to that song made you feel lighter, happier and reassured that he was always thereâeven if you were miles apart from each other.
The intro of the sound began, the boys settling down and sitting next to each other as Taehyung sang his verse of the song.
Baby, you remind me
I want someone like you, ooh
Fires are never dying
I want someone like you, ooh-whoa
Jungkook swayed side to side, his eyes admiring army as he listened to his band mates voice, even the fansâthousands of voices surrounding him.
His eyes eventually land on one specific person, and he swears heâs seeing things. He wished he could ask one of the boys to pinch them, just to make sure he wasnât dreaming.
Jungkook stills in his swaying once he locks eyes with you, seeing you swaying along with the rest of the crowd. You met his gaze soon enough, your face softening as your smile grew even more.
He was momentarily stunned, wide eyes and all, but a smile graced his face nonetheless.
This was the surprise the boys were talking about, you. After everything, he hadnât expected to see his girlfriend, someone he gets to call his, at his concert. He had said over and over how much he missed you, FaceTiming you after every concert he had had so far during tour. And here you were, dressed up and waving your cutely decorated light stick in the air.
Since he couldnât outright point out that his girlfriend was in the crowd, not wanting to out something so intimate between you two, he decided to show his appreciation and love for you through the one thing he knew bestâsinging.
Nobody knows me, honey
No one like you, ooh
If you wanna go there
I'm ready to be with you, no-oh
Jungkook sung, his voice powerful but full of emotion, and he looked right into your eyes the entire time.
âOh kooâ, you whisper to yourself. You could feel your face heat up, all while tears gathered in the corner of your eyes as you tried to fan them away. You couldnât help though. No matter what it was, he always found a way to make you feel seen, make you feel specialâeven if that meant singing to you in front of thousands of people.
He would do it a hundred times over just to see your smile.
After the concert ends and everyone begins to leave, your privately escorted by security guards to meet the boys. Your excitement was heightened once more, not able to wait and see their reactions.
Once you were there and the guards let you through, you felt a strong pair of arms lift from the ground and into a hug. The sudden action itself made you squeal and giggle as you felt your feet leave the floor.
âI missed you so muchâ, Jungkookâs voice muffled against fabric, but you could hear him all the same.
You giggle. âAnd I missed you, kooâ.
Eventually you got to greet the boys as well, giving them hugs and whatnotâtelling them how proud you were and how amazing they did on stage.
âHe kept asking what the surprise was all dayâ, Namjoon chucked, taking sips from bottled water.
âEven during sound checkâ, Jimin added teasingly.
Jungkook shrugged innocently. âI was curious, anyone would beâ.
While the boys went and toke pictures with any family or friends that came, that left you and Jungkook to have your moment aloneâyou laying on his lap, your head resting on his shoulder as you ran your white french-tipped nails through his jet black hair.
âI canât believe you came. When did you even get here?â Jungkook asked, still stunned that you were even sitting there with him.
You chuckle. âYesterday morning, I had to keep it a secret though so I could surprise youâ.
Jungkook huffed a laugh. âI was surprisedâ.
His eyes met yours for a moment, the contact soft but warm.
âThank you. You really didnât have to but it means so muchâ,
Your face softens at his words. âBabyâŠâ
âNo, No I mean it. I had been so stressed about tour and making sure I was doing everything right butâŠyou calm those thoughts. You keep me calm. And I love you for thatâ.
Your throat tightened hearing his words, feeling tears surfacing in your eyes once more.
Your hand comes up to cup his cheek, softly grazing it with your thumb as you leaned into his lips for a kiss.
âAnd I love you. Even though youâre making me cry nâ shitâ, you say, causing the both of you to laugh.
âMâsorry mama, you know I donât like seeing you cry. I can make it up to you thoughâ.
âOh?â you reply, amused. âAnd what would that beâ.
âYou know whatâ, Jungkook teased, wiggling his eyebrows.
âBoy-â, you suck your teeth, playfully smacking him on the chest as he laughed, tilting his head back.
And yeah, maybe you knew what he was referring to. But you hadnât seen him in who knows how long, so you were going to savior every moment of it that night.

Chapter 2 : Jeju
The concert lasted for three days.
For the last two, your entire world revolved around the stadiumâscreaming every lyric until your voice disappeared all over again, dancing until your legs hurt, getting swept up in the chaos of their long-awaited comeback.
But somehow, the nights became your favorite part.
The three of you would end up at some random convenience store near the hotel at 2 am, still buzzing with leftover adrenaline. Jungkook in a hoodie and cap pulled low, Mingyu somehow still loud despite being exhausted, and you standing between them with instant ramen and snacks piled in your arms.
Taehyung would tag along tooâshowing up late with sleepy eyes and an oversized jacket, complaining about how cold it was before stealing food from everyone anyway.
Then youâd all head back to your hotel room.
Shoes kicked off carelessly. Convenience store bags spread across the floor. The TV playing quietly in the background while conversations overlapped into each other.
Most of the time, it was just nonsenseâold stories, constant teasing, Mingyu being dramatic for absolutely no reason while Taehyung kept provoking him on purpose, Jimin eventually joining in too, and Jungkook sitting beside you somehow still full of energy despite how exhausted he shouldâve been.
Heâs laughing loudly, arguing with Mingyu over something stupid, stealing snacks from your side of the table like he hasnât eaten all night, and not once does he look tired. If anything, he looks happier than youâve seen him in a long timeâmore relaxed, more comfortable, like this is exactly where he wants to be. A second later, Jungkook reaches for yet another cup of ramen with his chopsticks still in hand like he hasnât eaten enough for three people already.Â
âJungkook,â you rasp out weakly, voice still ruined from the concert, âyouâve eaten three bowls already. How are you still hungry?â
He looks up mid-bite, completely unashamed.
âI danced for three hours.â
âSo did everyone else.â
âYeah, but I danced harder.â
Another laugh breaks out around the room again. By the time the chaos finally starts dying down, the clock on the TV reads 3:32 a.m. Taehyung leaves first, half-asleep and mumbling quiet goodbyes while pulling his hood over his head. Jimin follows right after him, still giggling about something no one else understands as he clings dramatically onto Taehyungâs shoulder. Not long after, Mingyu stretches loudly from the couch before pointing at you from the doorway like heâs about to say something important.Â
âDonât stay up too late.â
âYou say that like youâre my dad,â you mumble.
âI practically raised you.â
âYouâre two months older than me.â
âRespect your elders,â he says seriously.
You snort.
Jungkook walks them to the door, laughing under his breath before shutting it behind them. The hotel room suddenly feels smaller without everyone else filling it. Empty ramen cups, snack wrappers, and half-finished bottles are scattered across the floor and table while the TV continues playing softly in the background. You kneel down automatically to start cleaning, and a second later, Jungkook quietly does the same beside you.
âYou donât have to help,â you tell him.
He looks at you like the suggestion itself is stupid.
âItâs my mess too.â
You watch him for a second as he starts gathering empty bottles into a plastic bag, sleeves pushed up casually past his wrists.
âYou know,â Jungkook says after a while, tying up the trash bag, âyour roomâs way cleaner than I expected.â
You narrow your eyes immediately. âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âI donât know,â he shrugs, grinning. âYou just seem like the type to leave clothes everywhere.â
âThatâs literally you.â
âFalse accusations.â
You scoff quietly, grabbing the remaining snack wrappers off the table. Jungkook glances around once more before sitting down at the edge of the bed with a tired exhale. For the first time tonight, he actually looks exhausted. His head tilts back lightly against the wall, eyes closing for a second like his body is finally catching up to him after forcing himself to stay awake all night. You pause for a moment just watching him quietly.Â
âYou tired?â
He hums without opening his eyes. âA little.â
âA little,â you repeat skeptically.
That makes him laugh quietly.
âYou know me too well.â
He looks tired now. Not stage-tired. Just genuinely exhausted in a way he only seems to show when things finally get quiet and thereâs nobody left to perform for. Youâre still folding one of your jackets when he suddenly speaks again, voice softer this time.Â
âAfter the concerts,â he says slowly, âwe have three days off.â
You glance up. âOh?â
He nods, resting his arms loosely over his knees. âSome of us are going to Jeju.â
âMust be nice,â you mumble.
âI already asked Mingyu.â
That catches your attention.
âAnd?â
âHe said yes.â
You hum softly. âOf course he did.â
âYou should come too.â
Your hands pause slightly.
âWhat?â
âTo Jeju,â he says simply. âCome with us.â
You blink at him. âWith all the members?â
âItâs not like a work thing,â he says quickly, almost amused by your expression. âJust vacation.â
âThat somehow makes it scarier.â
He laughs quietly at that.
âYou already know most of them anyway.â
âKnowing them and vacationing with them are two very different things.â
âYou survived three concerts.â
âBarely.â
That earns another laugh from him. Then his expression softens a little.
âCome on,â he says. âItâll be fun.â
You hesitate for a momentânot because you donât want to go.Â
Honestly, that might be the problem. And of course, Jungkook notices immediately.
âYouâre thinking too much again.â
You narrow your eyes. âI always think.â
âYeah, but this is the overthinking face.â
âI do not have an overthinking face.â
âYou do.â
You let out a quiet scoff, shaking your head before looking back down at the clothes in your hands.
âNah,â you mumble. âIâm just thinking that Iâll be heading home the day after, right?â
Jungkook stays quiet.Â
You continue softly, âBack to my country. Back to work. Back to normal life.âÂ
The room grows quieter after that because saying it out loud suddenly makes everything feel a little more real. Jungkook watches you carefully from the edge of the bed, his earlier teasing fading little by little.Â
âAnd?â he asks after a moment.
You shrug lightly, avoiding his eyes. âJeju just feelsâŠâ
âToo much?â
You laugh softly through your nose. âMaybe.â
He leans back slightly, arms resting over his knees.
âYou make it sound like weâre asking you to move here permanently.â
âYou said that last time too.â
That earns a small laugh from him.
âOkay, fair.â
You smile despite yourself.
But then his expression softens again.
âStill,â he says quietly,
âI donât want this to be the last time I see you before you leave.â
Jungkook watches you carefully, waiting.
Itâs not that you donât want to goâyou really do. But a part of you knows staying longer would only make leaving even harder later. Jungkookâs eyes stay on you the entire time, wide and soft in that dangerously convincing way of his, looking almost like heâs silently begging you to say yes and come with him.Â
You let out a long sigh before finally looking at him.
âFine.â
For a second, he just blinks like he genuinely wasnât expecting you to say yes that easily. Then his entire expression lights up almost instantly.
âReally?â
You point at him immediately. âDonât make that face.â
âWhat face?â
âThat one.â
Heâs already grinning now, exhaustion forgotten completely. And before you can say anything else, Jungkook suddenly pushes himself off the bed and walks straight toward you before wrapping his arms around you without hesitation. Fast. Warm. Careless.
You let out a startled laugh immediately. âJungkookââ
âYou said yes,â he mumbles against your shoulder like that alone explains everything.
âYouâre so dramatic.â
âAnd you love it.â
âI literally never said that.â
A quiet laugh rumbles against you as his arms tighten slightly for another second before finally loosening. But he still doesnât let go completely. And for a moment, you freezeâcaught off guard by how warm he feels, how natural this somehow is after all this time apart.Â
Jungkook pulls back just enough to look at you, hands still loosely around your arms now, grin softer than before.
âWeâre gonna have so much fun,â he says.
â
Jeju somehow feels different from Seoul the second you land. Quieter. Slower. The air smells cleaner near the coast, wind brushing against your skin as everyone drags their luggage through the airport half-awake and sleep deprived.Â
Mingyu is complaining immediately.
âI got three hours of sleep for this.â
âYou complain every trip,â Taehyung says flatly from beside him.
âBecause suffering builds character.â
âYou have enough character.â
Jungkook snorts quietly beside you, shoulder bumping yours as the group keeps walking.
âYou okay?â
You nod. âJust tired.â
âMm.â His eyes flick toward you briefly. âYou slept late.â
âYou literally stayed in my room until four in the morning.â
âThat sounds accusatory.â
âBecause it is.â A grin spreads across his face instantly.Â
The villa they rented sits near the water, tucked away just far enough from the city that everything feels calmerâmore private, quieter. But the moment everyone steps inside, the peace doesnât last. Chaos starts immediately. Rooms are being claimed within seconds, bags dropped wherever they land, shoes kicked off near the entrance, and within the first five minutes someone is already stealing someone elseâs hoodie like itâs completely normal.
âIâm taking the suite!â Jin shouts from across the villa, dragging his suitcase dramatically toward the stairs.
âHyung, you say that every trip,â Jungkook calls out.
âAnd every trip I deserve it.â
âYou say that too,â Park Jimin mutters without even looking up from his phone.
Meanwhile, Taehyung drops onto the couch beside your bag and points at you lazily.
âIâm sleeping with Y/N.â
âNo,â Jungkook and Mingyu say immediately at the exact same time.
The room goes quiet for half a second. Then Jimin starts laughing first.
âOh, that was fast.â
Taehyung slowly turns his head toward them, unimpressed. âWhy are both of you acting like her bodyguards?â
âBecause you steal blankets,â Mingyu answers instantly.
âAnd snore,â Jungkook adds.
âI do not snore.â
âYou literally do.â
âYou talk in your sleep.â
âThat was one time.â
âEvery trip,â Jimin mutters.
Youâre already laughing too hard to answer properly. Before the argument can spiral further, Namjoon finally looks up from where heâs been quietly watching the chaos unfold.
âOkay,â he says calmly. âHow about Y/N goes and picks a room firstâŠâ
Everyone turns toward him.
ââŠand then we decide who gets to be her roommate.â
The entire room reacts immediately.
âWhy does she get first pick?â Mingyu complains.
âBecause sheâs a guest,â Namjoon answers.
âThatâs favoritism.â
âThatâs manners.â
Taehyung sits up straighter instantly. âI support this plan.â
âOf course you do,â Jungkook mutters.
Yoongi glances over lazily and adds, âWhatever. Iâm in.âÂ
Hoseok laughs from the side and immediately nods along, âSame, sounds fun.âÂ
Jin follows right after, pointing like itâs the most obvious thing in the world, âIâm not sleeping on the floor, so yes.âÂ
You laugh under your breath as you drag your suitcase down the hallway. The second floor is noticeably quieter, with large windows letting in soft afternoon light that spills across the wooden floors and the faint sound of the ocean drifting in from somewhere outside.Â
Without thinking too much about it, you choose the room at the very end of the hallway. Itâs simple and cozy, with sliding doors that open to a small balcony facing the water.
You drop your bag beside the bed before pulling out your phone.
yn: room secured đ
Downstairs immediately explodes.
taehyung: IM COMING
mingyu: donât move
jimin: why are you all insane
jin: i call not sleeping on the floor
jk: lol
Taehyung ends up rooming with Namjoon and Yoongi, already complaining dramatically before he even reaches the door. Jin somehow gets paired with Jimin, which immediately turns into nonstop teasing and bickering the moment they step inside.Â
Mingyu is shoved into a room with Hoseok, and within minutes their side of the villa is already louder than everyone else combinedâlaughing, talking, and arguing over literally nothing.
And thenâthe hallway grows quiet again. Youâre kneeling beside your suitcase, unpacking a few things when you hear footsteps stop right outside your door. The lights in the hallway are dim. No knock. The door just opens slightly. Jungkook walks in carrying his duffel bag over one shoulder like the decision had already been made hours ago. You stare at him. He stares back.Â
He stares back.
ââŠwhat are you doing?â he asks.
You glance up briefly. âIâm trying to be quiet?â
A small laugh escapes him through his nose.
âGuess Iâm your roommate.â
â
Back in the kitchen, everyone is still loud enough that you can hear them faintly from upstairs. Mingyu is the first one to notice Jungkook never came back down. A dangerous grin immediately spreads across his face.
âWell, well,â he says, leaning back against the counter. âWhat a coincidence that youâd be the one sharing a room with Y/N.â
Jimin bursts into laughter instantly.
âRight? Out of all the rooms.â
Jungkook doesnât even look embarrassed.
After everyone has finally settled in, later that night someone randomly suggests swimmingâand somehow that single idea turns into chaos. Within seconds, everyone is sprinting toward the pool like overgrown teenagers, laughing and shouting as if theyâve been waiting for this moment all day.Â
You stay back, not joining them. Partly because youâre tired. Mostly because the thought of getting into cold water after three exhausting concert days sounds terrible. Jin,Namjoon, and Hoseok went to the convenience store. So it ends up being just you, Park Jimin, and Min Yoongi staying inside.
From where youâre sitting at the dining table, the entire backyard is visible through the glass doors. The pool lights glow soft blue against the dark Jeju night while chaos unfolds outside. Mingyu is yelling about something over the noise, Tae keeps splashing people on purpose like itâs a competition, and JungkookâJungkook looks ridiculously happy. His hair is pushed back and dripping wet, laughter spilling out of him as he aggressively splashes anyone within reach. You watch as he dunks Mingyu underwater without hesitation, only to get tackled right back a second later, disappearing into the water with another burst of laughter.Â
âHeâs insane,â you mumble under your breath.
Jimin walks over carrying a bottle of wine and two glasses, following your gaze outside.
âMm,â he hums knowingly. âHeâs been excited about this trip for weeks.â
Before you can respond, the sliding door opens and Yoongi walks inside quietly, a towel resting over his shoulder while the loud chaos from outside spills in for a brief moment behind him. The second Jimin spots himâ
âHyung!â he calls out dramatically, lifting the wine bottle. âYou joining?â
Yoongi looks at the two of you.Â
Then at the pool outside. Then back at the wine.
ââŠobviously.â
Yoongi walks over lazily, dropping into the chair across from you with a quiet sigh while Jimin slides a wine glass toward him.
Jimin suddenly turns toward you, resting his chin against his hand.
âSo.â
Your stomach sinks immediately.
ââŠwhy do you sound like that?â
âLike what?â
âNosy.â
âI am nosy.â
Yoongi hums calmly. âHeâs honest at least.â
Jimin grins.
âWhen did you and Jungkook start talking again?â
You blink once.
âOh.â
âYou knew about that?"
âOf course we knew,â Jimin says like itâs obvious. âDo you think heâs subtle?â
Yoongi lets out a quiet scoff into his wine glass. âHeâs terrible at hiding things.â
You stare at them suspiciously. âWhat exactly did he say?â
Jimin grins immediately. âNothing direct.â
âThat smile says otherwise.â
âHe justâŠâ Jimin waves his hand vaguely. âStarted smiling at his phone more.â
Yoongi nods once. âAnnoyingly more.â
âAnd heâd disappear to call someone every night,â Jimin adds.
Your ears grow warm instantly.
âWe didnât know it was you at first,â he continues. âThen suddenly your name started appearing every five business days.â
You groan softly, covering part of your face. âOh my god.â
Jimin laughs loudly. âSo?â
âA few months ago,â you answer carefully.
Jimin raises a brow. âOnly a few?â
You nod.
âI texted him congratulations after discharge,â you admit, swirling the wine in your glass absentmindedly. âWe just⊠kept talking after that.âÂ
Jimin watches the chaos outside through the window for a second before looking back at you.
âHe missed you a lot, you know.â
Your fingers tighten slightly around your glass.
Yoongi glances at Jimin briefly but says nothing.
You laugh awkwardly instead. âI doubt that.â
âIâm serious,â Jimin says. âHe talked about you all the time during military service.â
Your eyes widen a little. âWhat?â
âWell, he didnât exactly say âI miss herâ directly,â Jimin says, leaning back in his chair.
Yoongi snorts quietly. âBecause heâd rather suffer than admit things properly.â
âBut,â Jimin continues with a grin, âheâd mention random things and somehow your name always came up.â
âLike what?â you ask before you can stop yourself.
Jimin immediately grins like heâs been waiting for that question.
âMostly annoying stuff.â
You narrow your eyes. âWow. Thanks.â
âHe looked happier after you started talking again.â Yoongi adds.
He takes a sip of his drink before pointing lazily toward the window. âHeâd be in a good mood for no reason, then suddenly disappear to check his phone.âÂ
You frown slightly. âAnd you just⊠assumed it was me?âÂ
âThe chances were very high.âÂ
A few bottles of wine later, the conversation starts getting dangerously honest. Or maybe itâs just the alcohol. Either way, the energy shifts completely. Jimin is fully flushed now, cheeks bright red as he clings dramatically to his wine glass like it personally offended him.Â
Meanwhile, Min Yoongi somehow becomes more invested with every sip. At first heâd just quietly react to thingsâbut now? Now heâs actively interrogating you.Â
âSo,â Yoongi says calmly, leaning back in his chair. âDid you like Jungkook before?â You nearly choke on your wine. Jimin immediately loses it beside you, bursting into loud laughter.
âHYUNG.â
âWhat?â Yoongi asks innocently.
âYou canât just ask that immediately!â
âYou were taking too long.â
You stare at both of them in disbelief. âWhy are you guys like this?â
Yoongi ignores that entirely.
âWell?â
You narrow your eyes suspiciously. âAre you drunk?â
âA little,â he admits easily.
Yoongi points at you again. âAnswer the question.â
You laugh nervously, setting your wine glass down. âNo comment.â
Yoongi nods once in agreement. âHeâs oblivious sometimes.â
You let out a quiet laugh, though it fades almost as quickly as it comes.
âThatâs kinda why I left,â you admit softly.
Both of them go quiet.
You stare down at the wine in your glass for a second before continuing.
âI didnât want things to get complicated.â Jiminâs expression softens immediately at that, while Yoongi just watches you quietly, not interrupting.Â
âHeâs very different than I am.â Outside, faint laughter drifts in from the pool, Jungkookâs voice carrying somewhere in the distance. You continue a little more softly, âWe lived completely different lives.âÂ
âHe was getting bigger every yearâbusier, more famous, everything around him kept changing so fast.â A faint, almost bittersweet smile touches your lips. âAnd I was just⊠normal.â
Jimin looks like he wants to argue immediately, but Yoongi subtly stops him with one glance.
âI knew eventually Iâd leave Korea,â you say. âAnd heâd stay here. Continue his life. Continue being Jungkook.â
The words settle heavily between the three of you.
âSo I thoughtâŠâ you pause briefly. âMaybe itâd be easier if I left before things got messy.â
The room stays quiet.
You swallow softly before addingâ
âAnd with the military service coming upâŠâ a small breath of laughter escapes you, though thereâs nothing funny about it. âI thought it was the perfect time.â
Jiminâs face falls immediately.
Yoongi leans back slowly in his chair, gaze fixed on you now.
âPerfect time to disappear?â he asks quietly.
You shrug lightly.
âI figured eventually weâd stop talking anyway.â
The words feel heavier out loud than they ever did in your head.
âSo I left first.â
Silence settles over the table after that.
Not awkward.
Just⊠sad.
Jimin looks genuinely heartbroken on Jungkookâs behalf now.
âThatâs actually the worst thing Iâve ever heard,â he mutters dramatically.
You laugh softly despite yourself. âThank you?â
âNo, seriously,â he says, sitting up straighter now despite how red his face is from the wine. âDo you know how miserable he was before enlistment?â
Jimin stares at you carefully now.
âYou really thought leaving would make things easier?â
You hesitate.
âYes.â
âAnd did it?â
You look down at your glass for a second too long.
Then force out a small shrug.
âIt doesnât matter.â
Neither of them says anything. You smile faintly, quieter this time. âI donât see him that way anymore.â
âI justâŠâ you exhale softly. âI think of him as a dear friend.â
Before Jimin can continue interrogating you, Yoongi finally sets his wine glass down with a quiet sigh.
âYou know,â he says calmly, âI think both of you are making this harder than it needs to be.â
âYou keep talking like Jungkook being different from you automatically makes things complicated.âÂ
A small pause.Â
âYeah, his lifeâs busy. Itâs loud. People know him everywhere he goes. Thatâs just reality.âÂ
He shrugs lightly. âBut heâs still the same person when all of thatâs gone.â Jimin listens quietly for once, unusually still.Â
Yoongi continues, voice even.Â
âAnd youâre not wrong for thinking about how different your lives are. Thatâs fair.âÂ
âBut sometimes people decide the ending of a situation before it even happens.â His eyes shift briefly toward you. âYou left because you thought it would be easier for both of you, right?â A beat. âIâm just saying⊠maybe donât assume what wouldâve been harder for him without actually letting him have a say.âÂ
The room falls quiet for a moment after Yoongi finishes speaking. Not uncomfortableâjust thoughtful, like everyone is processing it in their own way.
Jimin slowly spins his wine glass, his earlier teasing gone a little softer now. âHyungâs being unusually reasonable tonight,â he mutters.
Yoongi gives him a flat look. âDonât ruin it.â
Jimin hums, then glances at you again, more gently this time. âHeâs not wrong though.â
You let out a small breath, looking down at your glass. âItâs not that simple.â
âI know,â Jimin says quickly, less playful now. âIâm not saying it is.â
Jimin tilts his head slightly, watching you for a second like heâs choosing his words carefully for once. Then he speaks a little more quietly than before.
âWhy not just⊠give it a chance?âÂ
Jimin continues, a little more careful now. âI mean⊠you donât have to decide everything at once. But you also donât really know what it could be if you donât even try, right?â
Before you even get the chance to respond, the sliding door suddenly flies open. Cold night air rushes inside along with loud laughter and dripping footsteps echoing across the floor. You barely have half a second to react before Jungkook and Mingyu appear, both completely soaked from head to toe.
âOh no,â you say immediately, backing your chair away.
âOh yes,â Mingyu says.
âYou guys better notââ
Too late.
Mingyu grabs one arm while Jungkook grabs the other.
You let out an actual scream as they start dragging you toward the backyard.
âPUT ME DOWNââ
âAbsolutely not,â Jungkook laughs.
âIâm literally wearing pajamas!â
âThat sounds like a you problem.â
The second the cold night air hits you outside, panic fully kicks in. The pool glows bright blue beneath the lights, way too close for comfort.
âOh my god, Jungkookââ
Heâs laughing so hard he can barely hold onto you properly.
âYouâre overreacting.â
The closer they get to the pool, the tighter you cling instinctively to Jungkook. Your arms wrap around him without thinking, fingers fist tightly into the back of his soaked shirt as you practically hang onto him for survival.
âJUNGKOOK.â
Mingyu tries pushing both of you closer to the edge, and you immediately tighten your grip around Jungkook even more. And for a secondâhe freezes, just slightly. Because now youâre pressed fully against him, arms locked around his shoulders while your face hides near his neck, clearly trying your best not to get thrown into the pool. Water drips from his hair onto your skin.
Water drips from his hair onto your skin.
His laughter softens a little.
And before either of you can reactâ
Mingyu suddenly shoves both of you hard toward the pool. You scream immediately.
SPLASH.
Freezing water crashes around both of you all at once.
âMINGYU.â
âyoU FuCKing ASSHOLEâ. Mingyu is already doubled over laughing outside the pool. Suddenly he climbs onto the edge of the pool dramatically.
Mingyu raises both arms into the air like an Olympic diver.
âCANNONBAAAALLââ
âWAITââ
Too late.
â
âMy head is pounding.â
You mumble the words quietly as you step outside after showering, still rubbing one of your temples. Between the wine earlier with Jimin and Yoongi, the screaming, the swimming, and nearly drowning twiceâ
your body is officially exhausted.
Jungkook looks up almost immediately the second you walk outside.
âThere you are.â
You hum tiredly in response before dropping into the empty chair beside him. The warmth from the fire hits your skin instantly. Jungkook glances at you once.Â
Then again.
âYou okay?â
âMy head hurts.â
âThatâs because you mixed wine with near-death experiences.â
âThat was Mingyuâs fault.â
âEverything is Mingyuâs fault,â Taehyung agrees immediately.
âWow,â Mingyu mutters. âIâm being bullied in this villa.â
Jungkook laughs softly beside you before quietly reaching for the water bottle near his chair.
âDrink.â
You narrow your eyes. âYou sound like Yoongi Oppa.â
You complain, but you take the bottle anyway.
The fire crackles softly between everyoneâs conversations while Jungkook leans back in his chair beside you, looking oddly content just having you there.
After some time, the noise around the villa starts to soften little by little. Conversations blur into background sounds, laughter fading into quieter laughs, and the fire crackles steadily as if itâs the only thing still fully awake.Â
Yoongi is fully asleep at this point, head tilted back against the chair with the blanket still wrapped around him like a burrito. Meanwhile, Jimin and Taehyung are very obviously very drunk now. On the other side of the patio, Mingyu has somehow convinced Hoseok to sing with him.
âNEVER LET ME GOOOOOââ Mingyu belts dramatically into the night.
âThat is NOT the key,â Hoseok yells through laughter.
At some point, Jin finally stands up with the exhausted energy of a man whoâs had enough.
âIâm going to bed before Mingyu starts harmonizing.â
Namjoon follows right after him, already rubbing his eyes.
âWake me up if the villa catches on fire.â
âThat feels oddly specific,â you laugh.
âItâs Taehyung,â Namjoon says simply before disappearing inside.
Soon itâs mostly just you and Jungkook sitting quietly near the fire while everyone else spirals around you in different stages of exhaustion. Jungkook stretches his legs out slightly, shoulders relaxed now, hoodie sleeves covering part of his hands.
âYou still cold?â he asks quietly.
âA little.â
Without another word, he pulls the blanket off the empty chair beside him and tosses half of it over your lap too. You glance at him.
âWow,â you mumble. âHow gentlemanly.â
âDonât get used to it.â
You smile faintly, pulling the blanket closer anyway. Across the patio, Mingyu is now singing directly to a very uninterested Yoongi who is still asleep.
âYou think he knows weâre here?â Hoseok whispers.
âAbsolutely not,â Jungkook answers.
The villa grows quieter around you.
Only the sound of waves somewhere in the distance now.
Jungkook exhales softly through his nose before suddenly sitting forward slightly.
ââŠHow about a walk?â he suggests.
âRight now?â
âMhm.â
âItâs like two in the morning.â
âThatâs the best time.â
You narrow your eyes suspiciously. âThat sounds like something a serial killer would say.â
A quiet laugh escapes him.
âGood thing you already trusted me enough to share a room.â
âThat was against my will.â
âLiar.â
You hesitate for maybe two more seconds before eventually standing anyway, blanket still wrapped around your shoulders. Jungkook immediately gets up too, grabbing his hoodie from the back of the chair before nudging your arm lightly.
âCome on.â
The two of you slip out toward the beach path nearby.Â
Jeju at night feels completely different. The dark ocean stretches endlessly beside you, the wind carrying the sharp, clean smell of saltwater through the air, and the distant waves crash softly against rocks somewhere below like a steady heartbeat.Â
For a while, you just walk side by side with Jungkookâno destination, no rush, just the sound of footsteps on quiet sand and the ocean filling the spaces between words. Jungkook keeps his hands shoved into his hoodie pocket while matching his pace to yours naturally.
Jungkook grins to himself like he just remembered something.
âWhat?â
Instead of answering, he unzips his jacket slightly and pulls something out from the inside pocket. Your eyes widen immediately.
ââŠis that soju?â
He looks entirely too proud of himself.
âMaybe.â
âYou smuggled alcohol on a beach walk?â
âItâs called preparation.â
You stare at him in disbelief while he shakes the small bottle once dramatically.
âYou planned this?â you ask suspiciously.
âThe walk?â
âThe hidden alcohol.â
A grin spreads slowly across his face.
ââŠmaybe.â
âYouâre insane.â
âYou knew that already.â
The two of you end up sitting near the shoreline after that, shoes abandoned beside you while the waves roll in softly nearby. The bottle passes between you lazily, no urgency in the way it moves from hand to hand.Â
Conversation drifts from random nonsense to quieter things againâold memories, stories from the past, things you missed while being apart. At one point Jungkook laughs suddenly, shoulders shaking lightly beside you.
âWhat?â
âYou used to hate soju.â
âI still do.â
âThen why are you drinking it?â
You glance at him briefly before looking back out at the ocean.
ââŠbecause you offered it.â
The bottle is nearly empty by the time the conversation starts slowing down.Â
Youâre sitting close enough that your shoulders keep brushing every few seconds whenever either of you moves.
Jungkook turns the nearly-empty soju bottle slowly in his hands before glancing sideways at you.
âSo,â he says casually.
A grin pulls at his lips.
âAny boyfriends?â
You snort immediately. âStraight to the interrogation?â
âIâm curious.â
âNo.â
âNo?â
âNo.â
He hums softly, eyes dropping back to the bottle for a second.
Thenâ
âAny hookups?â
You nearly choke on air.
âJUNGKOOK.â
âWhat?â he laughs. âThatâs a normal question.â
âIt absolutely is not.â
You stare at him in disbelief while he continues grinning beside you.
âYou answer first then,â you shoot back immediately.
Jungkook clicks his tongue softly. âI asked first.â
âThatâs suspicious.â
âYouâre deflecting again.â
You groan dramatically, pulling the blanket tighter around yourself.
âNo boyfriends,â you admit eventually. âAnd no hookups.â
Jungkookâs brows lift slightly.
âReally?â
âWhatâs with that reaction?â
âI donât know,â he says honestly. âYouâre pretty.â
The compliment comes out so naturally that it catches you completely off guard.
Your expression falters for half a second.
Jungkook seems to realize what he said immediately after because he suddenly looks away first, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
ââŠthat sounded smoother in my head.â
You laugh softly despite yourself.
âDid you have any?â you ask quietly after a moment.
Jungkook leans back on his hands slightly, staring out toward the ocean again.
âA few dates,â he admits. âNothing serious.â
Something small and uncomfortable twists briefly in your chest anyway.
He notices immediately.
âWhat?â
âNothing.â
âThat face says otherwise.â
You roll your eyes, bumping your shoulder lightly against his. And Jungkook smiles again instantly at the contact alone. Jungkook suddenly leans back onto the sand, arms folded behind his head as he stares up at the stars above Jeju.Â
You hesitate for half a second before following him, laying down beside him on the sand. Close enough that your shoulders almost touch.
For a while, neither of you says anything.
Just breathing.
Jungkook turns his head slightly toward you.
âYou remember that one night?â he asks quietly.
âWhich one?â
âThe rooftop.â
You immediately laugh softly.
âOh my god.â
âYou remember.â
âOf course I remember. You almost got both of us arrested.â
âThat security guard was dramatic.â
âYou climbed onto a restricted roof at three in the morning.â
âAnd you followed me.â
âThatâs because you wouldâve died alone.â
Jungkook laughs quietly beside you. The sound feels softer out here, almost swallowed by the waves, but somehow more real at the same time. Then silence settles againânot awkward, just full, like it doesnât need to be filled.
You glance toward him eventually. And realize heâs already looking at you.
Closer now than before, his head resting sideways against the sand, wind brushing lightly through his damp hair. His gaze doesnât waver when it meets yoursâjust stays there, steady and unhurried, like heâs not in any rush to look away.
âYou know,â he says softly, âyou laugh the same.â
Your brows knit slightly. âWhat does that even mean?â
âI donât know.â A faint smile pulls at his lips. âIt sounds the same.â
Something about the way he says it makes your chest ache unexpectedly. You look away first this time, staring back up at the stars.
âYou know what I missed the most?â
You glance at him. âWhat?â
âThis.â
âThe beach?â
âYou.â
The answer comes so easily it almost steals the air from your lungs. Jungkook doesnât even seem to realize how hard the words hit. He just smiles faintly to himself, gaze still fixed upward.
âTalking to you like this,â he says quietly
Your chest tightens softly. The waves crash gently nearby, steady and unhurried, like theyâre the only thing still moving normally. And before you can stop yourself, you look at him a little too long.
Jungkook notices immediately.
His eyes shift toward yours slowly, like heâs been waiting for you to look back. The small smile on his face softens into something quieter, something that doesnât feel like teasing anymore. Neither of you looks away this time.
The wind brushes through his damp hair lightly, moonlight catching against his skin, making everything feel a little too still, a little too close, like the world has quietly stepped back without either of you noticing. He exhales softly through his nose and looks back up at the sky again.
âYou know what the worst part was?â
His voice is quieter now.
You turn slightly toward him. âAbout what?â
âWhen you left.â
Your chest tightens immediately.
Jungkook laughs once under his breath, but thereâs no humor in it.
âAt first I was mad.â
âActually, no. I was really mad.â
You stay quiet beside him.
âI kept thinkingâŠâ he continues slowly, âif I meant anything to you at all, why was it so easy for you to disappear?â
You swallow softly.
âThere were a lot of nights where I wanted to text you.â He laughs quietly. âBut my prideâs too big.â
âThatâs true,â you murmur. That earns a soft smile from him.
âBut even when we werenât talkingâŠâ he says after a moment, âeverything still reminded me of you.â
Jungkook turns his head slightly toward you again.
âYou were just⊠there all the time.â
Your throat feels tight suddenly.
âIn stupid random things I knew youâd laugh at.â
Jungkook watches you carefully now.
âAnd honestly?â he says softly. âI think I hated that the most.â
âWhy?â
âBecause no matter how hard I triedâŠâ his voice lowers slightly, âI couldnât make you feel like a past memory.â
The sound of your heartbeat suddenly feels louder than the ocean. Jungkook looks away first this time, jaw tightening slightly like maybe he already said too much.Â
But then, quietlyâalmost like heâs speaking more to himself than to youâ
âI donât think I ever really got over losing you.â
Your chest tightens so hard it almost hurts. For a second, neither of you moves. The ocean keeps rolling in like nothing changed, but everything between you feels like it just did.
Suddenly the entire moment feels far too real. Far too honest.
So instinctivelyâyou panic. A nervous laugh slips out as you look away toward the sky again, like the stars might offer an easier answer.
âYouâre drunk, arenât you?â you say, trying to make it lighter than it feels.
He exhalesâslow, controlled.
ââŠWhat if Iâm not?â he says quietly.
âIâŠâ you shake your head softly, eyes fixed somewhere out toward the dark ocean. âI didnât expect that from you.â
When he speaks, his voice is lower now, more careful.
âI know,â he says.
A pause.
âI didnât expect myself to say it either.â
You pull your knees a little closer to your chest beneath the blanket.
âI donât know,â you admit softly. âI just⊠didnât think I really mattered that much, you know?â
The moment the words leave your mouth, Jungkookâs expression changes immediately. Like something in him hurts hearing that.
âWhat?â he says softly.
You laugh awkwardly, trying to brush it off.
âI meanâwe were young back then. And your life got bigger and bigger after that. I just figured eventually Iâd becomeâŠâ you shrug lightly, ââŠsomeone you used to know.â
Jungkook stares at you for a second like the idea itself genuinely makes no sense to him. Then he lets out a quiet breath through his nose, shaking his head.
âY/N,â he murmurs.
The way he says your name makes your chest tighten.
âYouâre my best friend.â
Jungkook looks at you steadily, brows pulled together slightly like he needs you to understand this properly.
âYou were never just some person I used to know.â
Jungkook glances sideways at you again.
âI donât think you realize how important you are to people sometimes.â
Jungkook exhales, trying to lighten the mood.
âYou know Mingyu felt the same way, right?â
Your brows lift slightly. âAbout what?â
âAbout you leaving.â
Jungkook leans back onto his hands again, staring up at the sky.
âHe was devastated,â he says simply.
You blink at him. âMingyu?â
âMhm.â
âThatâs dramatic.â
âHe is dramatic.â
âTrue.â
A quiet laugh leaves both of you, but Jungkookâs expression softens again after a moment.
âHe acted annoyed about it at first,â he continues. âKept pretending he didnât care.â
âBut after you left?â Jungkook glances toward you briefly. âHe got really quiet about you.â
âThat sounds more like him.â
You stare down at the sand while he keeps talking.
âHe missed you a lot,â he says softer this time. âEven if heâd never admit it properly.â
You smile faintly to yourself, eyes lowering toward your hands.
âI missed him too.â
Jungkook hums softly.
âHe almost cried when you hugged him at the concert.â
You whip your head toward him immediately. âHe did not.â
âHe absolutely did.â
âYouâre lying.â
âIâm serious,â Jungkook laughs. âHis eyes got all red and everything.â
âThat was because he was screaming.â
âMhm.â
You narrow your eyes suspiciously while Jungkook keeps grinning beside you.
âHe missed having you around.â
The teasing fades again. Jungkook brushes his fingers absently through the sand beside yours.
ââŠWe all did.â
Something in his expression softens instantly at that. You let out a small breath through your nose before bumping your shoulder lightly against his.
âWell,â you say softly, trying to lighten the heaviness in your chest, ââŠIâm here now, right?â
Jungkook looks at you for a long second. Really looks at you, like heâs trying to make sure youâre still hereânot just physically, but in the same moment as him.Â
A smile spreads across his face again.
Smaller this time. Softer. Less teasing, more relievedâlike something inside him just loosened instead of being held so tightly.
âYeah,â he says quietly.
Jungkook watches you for a second.
Then slowlyâhe turns fully toward you. His whole body shifts in the sand until heâs facing you completely, one arm resting loosely against his bent knee while the other stays near you, close enough that you can feel the warmth even without touching.
Then gentlyâalmost hesitantlyâhis hand lifts.
Warm fingers brush lightly against your cheek.
Your entire body stills.
Jungkookâs thumb strokes softly along your skin once⊠then twice. So careful it almost feels like heâs afraid youâll disappear if he moves too fast. His expression softens immediately at the contact, gaze dropping for half a second to your lips before returning to your eyes again.
âYou know,â he murmurs quietly, thumb still resting against your cheek, âI think seeing you again messed me up a little.â
A nervous laugh escapes you softly, fragile in the quiet between waves.
A nervous laugh escapes you softly.
âA little?â
âMhm.â
His smile is small now. Barely there.
âMaybe a lot.â
Your breath catches.
And thenâhe moves closer.
Slowly this time. Carefully. Like heâs giving you every chance in the world to pull away if you want to. The hand on your cheek slides gently toward your jaw, warm fingers resting there as his eyes stay locked on yours, searching, waiting.
Your heartbeat turns almost painfully loud.
Close. Too close.
You can feel the warmth of his breath now, see the tiny flicker of hesitation in his eyesâlike even Jungkook isnât completely sure what comes after this, only that heâs tired of not knowing.
But he still leans in anyway.
Instinctively, your fingers tighten slightly against the sand.
And right before his lips can touch yoursâyou whisper shakily, his name barely forming in the air between you.
âJungkookâŠâ
He stops instantly.
Not pulling away, not yetâbut stilling completely, like your voice is the only thing that could do that to him.
His forehead hovers just a little closer than before, breath uneven now.
âYeah?â he murmurs softly, eyes still searching yours, voice barely above the waves.
Your chest rises too fast.
You donât even know what you were trying to say anymore. Maybe nothing. Maybe you just needed one second longer before everything shifted into something you canât take back.
Jungkook watches you carefully, eyes softer now. Waiting. Patient.
Your gaze flickers between his eyes and his lips before you let out a small, nervous laugh.
âI forgot what I was gonna say.â
For one second, he just stares at you.
Then a quiet laugh slips out of him too, the tension breaking just slightly as his forehead drops lightly against yours.
âYouâre unbelievable,â he whispers.Â
âYou almost kissed me.â
A beat.
âAnd you almost let me.â
Your stomach flips at the words, sharp and undeniable.
Neither of you moves away. If anything, Jungkookâs fingers curl a little more firmly against your jaw nowâstill gentle, but more certain, like heâs anchoring you there with him instead of asking permission to stay.
The space between you doesnât disappear.
Then quietly, almost like heâs testing the edge of restraint again, he adds,
âShould I stop?â
The question sounds careful.
But the way his thumb lingers against your skin makes the answer feel like it already belongs to both of you.
Your heart is loud in your chest. Too loud to think properly. But not loud enough to drown out what you already know is happening here.
But you stay quiet.Â
And Jungkook notices immediately. His eyes search yours for half a second longer, like heâs making sure.
Making sure youâre not scared.
Making sure youâll pull away if you want to.
And you donât.
You just look at him with your breath caught somewhere in your throatâand let him move closer again.
His forehead brushes yours first.
Nose grazing lightly against yours while his hand stays warm against your cheek.
The world suddenly feels unbearably still.
Thenâ
his lips finally touch yours.
Soft.
So soft it almost doesnât feel real at first.
Your chest tightens instantly.
Jungkook kisses you like heâs been thinking about it for years.
Like heâs trying not to scare the moment away.
Gentle.
Careful.
Warm against the cold Jeju night.
Your fingers instinctively tighten in the fabric of his hoodie before slowly relaxing again when he kisses you a little deeper this time.
A quiet breath leaves him against your lips.
And somehow that sound alone nearly destroys you.
The waves crash softly nearby while his thumb strokes gently along your cheek, like he still canât fully believe youâre here either.
When he finally pulls backâ
barelyâ
his forehead rests against yours again.
Both of you still breathing a little unevenly.
Jungkookâs thumb strokes gently along your cheek once more.
Like he still canât believe this is real.
His eyes flicker slowly between yours, softer now.
Almost dazed.
And maybe thatâs what does it.
Maybe itâs the way heâs looking at youâ
like heâs wanted this for far too long.
Because before he can say anything elseâ
you kiss him again.
And Jungkook lets out the smallest surprised breath against your lips before kissing you back immediately.
Like he was waiting for it.
Waiting for you.
Jungkook exhales shakily against your lips when your fingers curl tighter into the front of his hoodie, pulling him closer without even realizing it.
The sound nearly wrecks him.
You can feel it.
The way his breathing falters slightly.
The way he kisses you softer right after, almost careful againâlike heâs afraid this might disappear if he holds on too hard.
Then slowlyâ
his hand slips from your cheek down to your waist.
Warm fingers settling there carefully before pulling you a little closer against him.
Your breath catches immediately.
The movement is gentle.
Instinctive.
Like heâs been wanting to hold you like this for years.
Your knees brush against his in the sand while his arm stays wrapped around your waist, keeping you tucked against him naturally now.
And somehow that feels even more intimate than the kisses.
The closeness.
The way he holds you like he already knows your place beside him.
Jungkook pulls back just enough to look at you again, forehead resting lightly against yours while his thumb traces absentminded circles against your waist through the fabric of your clothes.
His eyes are softer than youâve ever seen them.
âYou have no idea,â he murmurs quietly, almost breathless,
âhow long I wanted to do that.â
Your chest tightens painfully.
You laugh softly through your racing heartbeat, trying to steady yourself.
âThat obvious, huh?â
A quiet smile appears on his face.
âTo me?â he murmurs.
âAlways.â
The word settles warmly between you.
Heavy in the quietest way possible.
Jungkook keeps looking at you like he still hasnât fully processed that youâre really hereâthat you kissed him back, that youâre sitting beside him on a beach in Jeju after years apart instead of existing only in memories and late-night thoughts.
The waves crash softly nearby while his hand stays secure around your waist, thumb brushing small absentminded circles there.
Then quietlyâ
âY/N?â
You blink up at him, still a little breathless.
âYeah?â
His gaze softens instantly at the sound of your voice.
And for the first time tonightâ
Jungkook looks completely vulnerable.
No teasing smile.
No hiding behind jokes.
Just honest.
âIâm never letting you go again.â
Your heart stumbles so hard it almost hurts.
The words come out low and certain, like he already made the decision long before tonight.
Like losing you once was enough.
You stare at him for a second, completely unable to speak.
Because thereâs something terrifying about being wanted that deeply by someone you spent years trying to forget.
Jungkookâs expression softens immediately when he notices the look on your face.
âYou know,â he murmurs with the faintest smile, forehead brushing lightly against yours again, âyou look like youâre about to panic.â
A helpless laugh escapes you softly.
âMaybe I am.â
âThat bad?â
âYou saying things like that isnât helping.â
His laugh is quieter now.
Warmer.
Then his hand slides a little more securely around your waist, pulling you impossibly closer until thereâs barely any space left between you at all.
âI mean it though,â he says softly.
The wind blows gently around both of you, carrying the sound of the ocean through the darkness while his eyes stay locked on yours.
âI spent too long pretending I was okay with losing you.â
Your throat tightens.
Jungkook brushes his nose lightly against yours, smile fading into something softer again.
âI donât wanna do that anymore.â
The honesty in his voice nearly breaks you apart.
So instead of answeringâ
you lean forward and kiss him again.
And this time Jungkook smiles against your lips immediately, like maybe that response is even better than words.
â
You walked back to the villa slowly, fingers intertwined with Jungkookâs the entire way.
Neither of you let go first.
Jungkook kept glancing sideways at you during the walk back, smiling to himself every few minutes like he still couldnât believe tonight actually happened.Â
âWhat?â you finally mumble, already embarrassed.
âNothing.â
âThatâs a liar smile.â
He laughs quietly under his breath, squeezing your hand once.
âYou kissed me first the second time.â
Your face heats instantly.
âOh my god.â
âIâm just saying.â
You groan dramatically while Jungkook keeps grinning beside you the entire way back toward the villa.
Most of the lights inside are already off when you finally return.
Quiet now.
Everyone probably asleep after the chaos earlier.
You slip your shoes off near the entrance while Jungkook locks the door behind both of you.
For a second neither of you moves.
Still standing too close.
Still holding hands.
You open the door to your bedroom quietly, Jungkook following right behind you.
The soft click of the door shutting behind you suddenly makes the entire room feel smaller.
For one brief secondâ
neither of you moves.
Jungkook is still close enough that you can feel the heat from him at your back.
Your fingers still tangled together loosely between you.
The room is dim except for the faint moonlight spilling through the balcony curtains.
Your eyes flick downward at your intertwined fingers and suddenly you feel shy all over again.
Jungkook notices immediately.
A small grin appears on his face.
âWhat?â you whisper suspiciously.
âNothing.â
âThatâs the same smile from earlier.â
âMaybe I just like holding your hand.â
Your stomach flips embarrassingly fast.
âYouâre saying dangerous things tonight.â
âYou kissed me like five minutes ago.â
âThatâs not the point.â
A soft laugh leaves him.
Then quieterâ
âCome here for a second.â
Your breath catches slightly.
âWhat?â
But Jungkook is already stepping closer.
One hand still holding yours while the other reaches up gently to brush a strand of hair behind your ear.
The movement is so soft it nearly wrecks you again.
âYouâre cute when youâre flustered,â he murmurs.
âJungkook.â
He smiles immediately at the warning in your voice.
Then before you can recoverâ
he leans down and kisses you again.
Quick this time.
Warm and smiling against your lips like he physically couldnât help himself.
Your fingers instinctively tighten around his hoodie.
a ridiculously loud snore suddenly cuts through the room.
Both of you freeze instantly.
Silence.
Another snore follows.
Even louder this time.
Slowly, you turn toward the bed.
And thereâ
spread dramatically across your mattress like he pays rentâ
is Mingyu.
Dead asleep.
One arm wrapped around your pillow.
Blanket tangled around his legs.
Snoring loud enough to qualify as a public disturbance.
A beat of silence passes.
Then Jungkook immediately folds over laughing.
âOh my god,â you whisper in disbelief.
Mingyu lets out another aggressive snore in response.
You stare at your bed, horrified.
âWhy is he sleeping in here?â
You walk over and lightly shove Mingyuâs shoulder.
âMingyu.â
Nothing.
Another shove.
âMingyu, wake up.â
He only groans sleepily before hugging your pillow tighter.
ââŠfive more minutesâŠâ
You sigh dramatically, looking around the room helplessly.
âYou can sleep in mine.â
Your breath catches slightly.
âWith you?â
Jungkook tries to look casual about it and fails miserably.
âI meanâŠâ he says carefully, glancing toward the unconscious Mingyu sprawled across your mattress, âyour bedâs kinda occupied.â
You stare at him.
He stares back.
Very obviously trying not to smile.
âWhat if Mingyu wakes up?â you whisper immediately.
Jungkook looks over at Mingyu, who is now starfished across your entire bed.
Another snore rattles through the room.
Then Jungkook looks back at you completely unbothered.
âHeâs literally sleeping in your bed right now,â he says softly. âI think we can make excuses.â
âThatâs not the point.â
âIt kind of is.â
You cover your face briefly while Jungkook laughs quietly under his breath.
Then gentler this timeâ
âIf youâre uncomfortable, itâs okay,â he says softly. âIâll sleep on the couch.â
You look at him for a second before shaking your head lightly.
âNo,â you murmur. âItâs fine.â
The way Jungkookâs expression softens at that almost makes your heart give out entirely.
Not smug.
Not teasing.
Just quietly happy.
Behind both of you, Mingyu snores loud enough to sound like background music.
âCome on,â he murmurs. âLetâs get ready for bed before he starts sleep-talking.â
You end up taking turns showering quietly while the villa stays asleep around you.
By the time you finish and step into Jungkookâs room wearing one of your oversized shirts and pajama shorts, exhaustion finally crashes into you fully.
The room is dimly lit by the small lamp near the bed.
Jungkook looks up from where heâs sitting against the headboard scrolling through his phone brieflyâand immediately freezes for half a second when he sees you.
Your stomach flips instantly.
âWhat?â you mumble self-consciously.
He blinks once before shaking his head quickly, trying to recover.
âNothing.â
âThat was not a nothing face.â
A sleepy grin appears on his lips.
âYouâre cute,â he admits quietly.
Your face warms immediately.
âGo to sleep.â
He laughs softly under his breath before setting his phone aside and lifting the blanket slightly for you.
The gesture feels strangely domestic again.
Dangerously domestic.
You climb into bed beside him carefully, trying very hard not to think too much about the fact that youâre sharing a bed with Jungkook after kissing him on a beach an hour ago.
Which is ridiculous, honestly.
Because this should be fine.
You and Jungkook have shared beds before.
Countless times.
Sleepovers after movie nights.
Falling asleep on couches during trips with friends.
Late nights where one of you was too tired to go home.
Back then it never felt like this.
Back then Jungkook was just Jungkookâ
your best friend stealing blankets and kicking you in his sleep.
But now?
Now youâre painfully aware of everything.
The warmth of him beside you.
The way the mattress dips slightly whenever he moves.
The memory of his lips against yours still lingering stubbornly in your head.
Your heart refuses to calm down.
Beside you, Jungkook watches your expression for a second before quietly smiling to himself.
Then slowly, he shifts a little closer on the bed until your knees brush lightly beneath the blankets.
âCome here,â he murmurs sleepily.
Before you can overthink it again, he gently pulls you closer against him.
And somehow the second you settle there beside himâ
everything feels easier.
The mattress dips slightly when he lays back down beside you.
For a second, both of you stay awkwardly still.
Then Jungkook glances sideways at you.
ââŠAre we pretending this isnât weird?â
You laugh quietly into the pillow. âItâs definitely weird.â
âMhm.â
A small silence passes.
Thenâ
very gentlyâ
Jungkook reaches over and brushes a strand of hair away from your face again.
His hand lingers for a second longer this time.
âYou okay?â he asks softly.
You nod sleepily.
âJust tired.â
âMe too.â
The room grows quiet after that.
Soft.
Warm.
Outside, faint waves crash somewhere far in the distance.
Jungkook shifts a little closer beneath the blankets before leaning down and pressing a soft kiss against your cheek.
âGoodnight, Y/N,â he murmurs.
Your chest tightens immediately.
âGoodnight,â you whisper back.
Then slowlyâ
carefullyâ
his arm slips around your waist from behind as he pulls you gently against him.
You can feel his steady breathing against the back of your neck.
The sleepy weight of him curled around you
And maybe because both of you are completely exhaustedâ
emotionally and physically drained from the concerts, the trip, the late-night conversations, and everything that happened tonightâ
neither of you stays awake much longer.
Your fingers curl loosely around his arm resting against your waist.
Jungkook presses one last sleepy kiss against your shoulder.
And somewhere between tangled blankets, quiet breathing, and the warmth of him holding you closeâ
