apologies to those not living alone, but it's the only way I could think of to get data that was useful. I am aware the span is enormous but didn't want to pigeonhole the results
The GM as I walk over to her: these boys need a class of some sort I think.
Me, trying not to laugh cause obvs she's kidding...: yeah?
GM: yeah, like a class that will teach them basic etiquette, some manners....
Me, confused and befuddled: like... Home Ec?
She looks at me: what?
Me, terror dawning: Home Ec? (She tilts her head to the side like puppies do when they are lost) Home Economics? (Im a little frantic now, she's kidding?!)
She shakes her head: I don't...
Me: oh, I'm that old? The class that teaches you basic cooking? It's an electoral? Like shop class? Electronics? Y'know? How to balance a check book? Monitor your accounts? Home repairs?
Her: you had to pay for it?
Me, nearly losing my shit: no?! They taught it in middle school, some high schools? You learned how to do your laundry? Care after smaller siblings? They taught you how to be civilized? Host? Sewing? Basic medical?
She shakes her head: they taught that in school?!
Me: this is why this generation is fucked. They canceled all the important shit and expect working parents (waving maniacally as my hair turns grey, and I develop a hunch back muttering about darn kids and somehow ends up with a newspaper/cane in my hand....) no more music, no more shop class, no home ec....
Had some time to tackle my mending pile today, and it got me wondering. Do you mend your clothes? I'm just talking simple things, like sewing a hole closed or replacing a button.
Yes, I mend to the best of my ability.
I put the clothes in a to-mend pile, but I never have time to tackle it.
I would if I knew how to sew, but I don't know where to start/have time to learn
