they grow up so fast
"What do you mean mcr saved/changed your life, they're a band, you've never met them, you're just crushing on the members." You have no idea the father figure i see in gerard, the amount of times I've cried because what hes saying in those songs I relate to so deeply and I thought I was so alone in that mindset and that feeling and that experience cause ive never found someone who can share it until now. Its fucking hopeful man. They're all so passionate and hopeful and inspirational, and yeah, I know, "they just make music..." but its the emotion next to that music that I feel like I relate to so strongly, and you hear the stories of gerard being drunk, frank nearly getting killed by a bus, mikey almost killing himself, and ray standing with them, supporting them through their struggles, and they all got through it, and theyre all better now and theyre doing so well-how can I not be inspired by that? I know I'll get better now. I know ill get through it. And, also, I feel so supported by them, despite them not even knowing a thing about me or if I even exist-and I think thats really powerful. They're affecting people all over the place, so many you cant count, so many they have no idea are even alive right now, but its thanks to them that they are alive. How does that not inspire you to just do something? I wanna make music that does that. Also also, back to the "I feel so supported by them-" its true dude like...recently ive been seeing a lotta videos of gerard on stage, talking about trans/nonbinary rights or just the LGBTQ+ community in such a supportive and loving way which is exactly what I need right now cause not everyone in my household is super supportive, but somehow this nearly 50 year old singer man is supporting me more than my very own father. Shit, they says "I love you" on stage and I start crying. Theyve affected so many people in such a positive way. I really see a father figure in gerard. And its thanks to them my self esteem is up, thanks to them im grieving right and havent relapsed in multiple months and its thanks to them I feel supported as a genderfluid person, despite my family not supporting me, and its thanks to them I have a band right now and its thanks to them im not afraid to say what I need to and stand up for whats right and be proud of who I am, even if nobody else is, and thats fucking powerful. So yeah. Mcr did save my life.
