Any tips on how to deal with homophobic parents? I came out to my mom earlier this year and well... My little sis (we’ll call her Whitney for privacy purposes) has been super great and supportive and my youngest sister (we’ll call her Macy) doesn’t really understand but she’s cool with it. anyway they’re both really great but my mom makes me hate myself almost. She put me in therapy and that’s great but she put me in not because of the anxiety that I quite obviously have. No she put me in because I’m bi and apparently being gay is a mental illness. So I’m really not sure whether or not she told my therapist (we’ll call her Pam) so I can’t come out to her which sucks because if I’m going to be in there I’d at least like to be able to talk freely. Anyway if you have any tips please drop them below
Stuff My Mom Says
My mom be like "I don't understand two girls in a relationship because no one knows to change a tire"
What???
My mom and I are watching Grey's Anatomy and two girls stepped in front of a train so their parents wouldn't send them to conversion camp and I'm literally having an anxiety attack about what my mom is gonna say but I'm glad she's forced to watch this
Mom, when I was younger: Don’t ever trust boys. They’re all nasty!
Dad, when I was a little bit older: When you first bring a boy home, you bet I’ll be waiting on the porch with my shotgun to shoot him down.
Mom, when I was beginning the journey to adulthood: Seriously, all boys are nasty. They just want to get into your pants. Don’t ever date one. They’ll use you for sex. That’s all they want.
Mom, now: If you’re out having sex, you will never leave this god damn house again. No daughter of mine will be a slut like this.
Me, a bisexual: *talks with friends about gay shit*
Mom: bEiNg GaY iS nOt AlLoWeD i FeAr yOu ArE aT rIsK gOd DiD nOt MaKe yOu tHiS wAy
Seriously just make up your god damn mind.
first post
hi, i’m jc. i decided to start this blog so that i could have somewhere anonymous to vent or post about how i’m feeling or anything, really.
i have a vagina, but i’m not a girl. i hate my body. gender dysphoria is crippling. right now, i identify as nonbinary. i know for sure that i want to get top surgery and start hormone replacement therapy but my parents are super transphobic. they know i’m depressed and they’ve been surprisingly supportive about my recovery in that sense but i know i won’t get better until i’m out and feeling like i belong in this body. i don’t know how to explain to them why i’m not getting any better without outing myself to them.
i’m out at school and i’m so lucky that i have a supportive school in this shitty conservative town.
i’m queer. i love girls. girls are amazing. they’re just so nice and pretty. i laugh every time my mom says something about my future husband because she doesn’t know i’m not going to marry a guy. when i come out, she’s in for a big treat.
anyway, that’s it for this post. i hope something good comes out of this blog.
#LivingWithHomophobicNonfeministParents
My dad said to me "I think you have some serious mental issues, if you say/think a girl is hot or pretty when you're a girl" because I complimented a girl I saw on tv DUDE I'M KIND OF BISEXUAL AND I REALLY LOVE GIRLS hmm (not that you have to be a lesbian or bisexual or whatever to compliment a girl, like the heck dude? Why can't I complimented a girl if I'm a girl? How is that a bad thing? Why are you allowed to compliment women and I'm not?)
