The journey of life is long. In Chinese, they always say 旅途长远.
I start to wonder, why there are people who would abuse authority and start being rude to the younger ones. Or even, to those who do not have a “managerial” title yet.
Sometimes, when people are young, It is fully not about them not having the capability. It is about them now learning, growing and maturing into the leader that they should be. But, why do people with that “authority” not give the chance or be that role model they should be?
Have we given a thought the one day, when we grow old, we need to pass the baton. We will wish that the company we had served is in the hands of young capable individual? That our legacy is not going into the trash because we once taught the younger ones to be rude and step on people with no title?
Have we given a thought that one day, these young individual may happen to be the superior of our own children? How will you then feel when you child gets bully, scream and shouted at. But this is what we do sometimes to another.
Let’s not just talk about young ones. How about the elder ones. There may be staff who are older than you but, you are their superior. You scream and shout at them. Do we not remember that they may have children too? What if, your mum or dad faces this at work. Do you not feel the pain?
Honest opinion, a title is just a title. It is just the responsibility you have to lead and help the people in your team. If you walk out of the doors of the company, who are you? Does that title makes a difference? Look closely, we are all just humans with eyes, ears, mouth, hands and legs.
Treat people as people. Don’t make the difference just because of rank.
