Do you have any tips or advice for first time artist who want drawing their own lackadaisy oc
Hello Honeyblossom!
And sure! I am not one of the character designers for the show but as an animator we still did get a rundown of some of the "rules" to keep in mind when drawing the characters
The show has it's own unique look and some of the ones that are used the most are the ones I drew for myself to remember here:
When I design a new character I tend to look to real life for inspiration, many times in an attempt to get the character to look in style many people base their characters off of the ones in the show, and that's fine! finding inspiration in the show you want your character to live in is also a valid way to design your characters. But for me at least, I like to look at people, pets or animals for inspiration, nature is full of unique shapes and designs!
These character here are based off of real people or someones real cat and sometimes both!
My sona has a combination of myself and my dogs patterns, tails and ear shapes.
But more than anything what I would recommend is to just draw them! make them exist first and don't push yourself to make them perfect, have fun with them, remember you can always go back and change stuff if you need to, even I've had to do that haha, my sona has an open file with a bunch of changes I want to make, but that's what makes it fun too, seeing them change and improve with each new drawing you make of them.
I hope this helps, and if you do end up drawing your own Lackadiasy character I can't wait to see what you come up with! I've seen many of the ones the fandom has made and they're all awesome
Happy drawing Honeyblossom!
