I want to thank you for allowing me to be present when you took your last breath. I want to thank you for making sure that I was in the room with your family to give them love. Thank you for waiting till we got the wine so we could toast you up and send you off the proper way, the Paul Johnson way. Singing, dancing and sharing endless amount of stories about YOU. You, the father of one of my closest friends that I consider my sister. You, who gave and gave and gave of yourself and wanted nothing in return. You, who learned that you had a gift and decided to bring joy and healing through song. You, who believed in family over everything. I can’t help but wonder why you wanted me there during your final hour. But here’s what I know to be true, I know that the world will not be the same without you physically in it. I know that Dia will always be able to call on you and she will feel your presence. I know that this past weekend has changed my life tremendously. I know that you are helping me heal through my father issues. I know that you have gifted me with not only an amazing friend but a family who’s lives I will forever be in. I gave them my word. Social Media is probably not the place for me to get personal with you but I wanted the world to know how wonderful you are. How you embodied what it meant to be love. Not just act in love but to actually BE LOVE. I wanted the world to know that an angel has been called home.
