Art by: @gaysalishart The unmarked grave of 215 Indigenous children was found and announced near a residential school in BC, Canada recently. The death rate was immense in residential schools, and this is not the only school with a mass grave. “As early as 1904, the government of Canada knew that its unequal provision of health care funding was contributing to the death rates of children in these schools at a rate of about 25 per cent. It was in the media and everything,” Cindy Blackstock, executive director of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society. There are stories of children being forced to dig graves for other children, and this is in addition to all the physical abuse, sexual abuse, mental abuse, and malnourishment. The government has gaslit Indigenous people for years about their experiences, but the mass graves clearly demonstrate what the Canadian government did to Indigenous children. #honourthe215 #everychildmatters #kamloops #canada #honourresidentialschoolsurvivors Witches, please take the time to educate yourselves on Indigenous issues if you have not, and to advocate. Many people who practice witchcraft are known for benefiting from Native culture without offering anything in return, and we are against that here at Witch of Dusk. We also are against taking pieces of culture for your own practice against the wishes of indigenous people. 🧡 (at Kamloops, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPi9rTPH-ZJ/?utm_medium=tumblr
