47-50 for Hood?
47. “Do they want to project an image of a younger, older, more important person? Do they want to be visible or invisible?”
Hmmmm. This depends entirely on who Hood is around. For the most part, he doesn’t even know what age he’s supposed to be acting (and generally settles for Adult-but-only-kinda-Responsible). He wants One person (Batman) to see him and think that he’s important. (This grows into the whole Batfam but it starts out with just Bruce.) Hood has a weird mix of “don’t look at me but don’t ever take your eyes off me because if you do I’ll cease to exist”. There is a reason he’s very flashy but his helmet/mask has no facial features whatsoever.
48. “How are your character’s gestures? Vigorous? Weak? Controlled? Compulsive? Energetic? Sluggish?”
Hood gestures a lot. Some of it is compulsive, a nervous tick, and almost always energetic. When he’s really having a tough time it’s more controlled to look compulsive. He’s forcing it to look “normal” and so it’s less wild as a result.
49. “What about voice? Pitch? Strength? Tempo and rhythm of speech? Pronunciation? Accent?”
Oh boy, his voice. Very good question. For the most part, he’s got a higher voice, not super strong, and he speaks pretty rapidly unless he’s making a point of slowing down. He’ll stress parts of words on occasion, like he isn’t quite sure that’s the word he wants, or is making fun of how a word sounds. When he’s in a darker mood, his voice will drop to a lower pitch, and he’ll lose a lot of his joyful speech patterns. His accent is Gothamite, which focuses on vowels and cuts off the end of suffixes a lot.
50. “What are the prevailing facial expressions? Sour? Cheerful? Dominating?”
When he’s not wearing his mask, he’ll do his best to look cheerful. But to be honest, his most frequent expression is Tired. He’s almost always got bags under his eyes, and sometimes smiling hurts more than it should. If he’s by himself, he won’t smile. It’s only when he’s with others that he’s the playful person they know.
