The Hook | The Lighthouse | The Devil | The Storm

It’s once again time for my season-ly @jammechanics tradition of drawing Bug’s episode 10 song! I was immediately charmed by this song (but let’s be real, I’ve been charmed by all the JM songs) so of course, I had to make some art about it 🙂‍↕️

I had a lot of fun experimenting with color and lighting on this one, since I wanted to keep it moody and stormy while sticking with the colors from the rest of the series!

Some character designs of The Devil and Angel from @bughuntermusic Hookverse! After listening to the latest song in this universe called The Devil a few months ago I immediately had inspiration to design these 2!! Please listen to Jam Mechanics

Design process!!!! I designed Devil first since we got a few descriptors like “Handsome with a Smile” and how his horns was nailed on by the previous Devil. Along with his origin story starting out as a haunted house that was haunted by the tree that was cut down to make it. And then that energy seeping into the maggots and crows. So Devil has this dark flame for a head and a big grand smile on it. Under his clothes we see bark and burnt pieces of wood on his shoulders. His tail is a big tree branch but had more leafy bits at the end like how a Devil tail will have either a spade or fur at the end!!!! His hands are crow talons with feathers

Angel had less descriptors. Since Devils main facial feature is his smile and persuading people. I went with Angels main facial feature being eyes. His face shape is an eyeball whose iris’s are more eyeballs. His “wings” are the eyelashes of his big eyeball head. I imagine between Hook and Lighthouse Angel has traded his cardigan for a long trench coat. I can also imagine that in Lighthouse he is no longer known as an Angel and just goes by the name ‘Lighthouse’

Time to actually post an opinion about something on my tumblr account. And it’s going to be about a niche podcast and some art I love. Here goes:

Hookverse and MYTH are the same universe. In fact, the same island, the same lighthouse, just separated by unknown time. The Angel’s name is Sasha, the lighthouse that imprisons them is Ananke. The connecting thread is the tape recording production at the end of The Storm demo.

I will corkboard and string this if I have to, but I swear it’s all there if you look.
