Hey can we as a society stop policing people about their own labels and whether or not they’re using them “correctly”? I commented on someone’s coming out post congratulating them and sharing my own gender and sexuality. I’m genderfluid, pansexual, lesbian, and arospec. And someone told me that I wasn’t pansexual and that I was omnisexual because I have a preference for girls.

And I’m just like????

Genuinely who are you to tell me what my own labels are. I don’t care if they’re contradictory. I don’t care if they aren’t being used “correctly”. It’s literally my identity. I don’t identify as omnisexual because I don’t feel omnisexual. It just doesn’t resonate with me.

Queerness is a spectrum and it’s already outside of the “norm”. Why are we trying to police other people about their own identities? If it were something harmful then I would understand, but I’m not harming anyone by saying I’m pansexual.

My sexuality and gender identity are my own, and they are not for you or anyone else to understand. They are just for you to accept.

Individuality is a beautiful and essential part of the human experience. We shouldn’t try to take that away from anyone.

Hello veterans of Tumblr, I don’t mean to prove the saying’s point, but can someone please explain to me what people mean when they say Tumblr is the “how dare we piss on the poor reading comprehension site”?
