Moby's discography is much more interesting than many give him credit for, yet his public persona does him no favours, though he also kept looking for the alchemy of his best work. To be honest, he did sort of find his groove back with Wait For Me. While the album cover does make the whole album look like a retread of Play, the reality is not completely this way. While the LP does share an emotional landscape of several tunes from both his breakthrough and 18, one notices this melancholy serves as a pathway towards a certain acceptance about himself. We mustn't forget – he ended the noughts with this platter, paving his way towards the status of the elder statesman he still has. Yes, he did his own Steel Wheels.
