As the sun slipped away past the darkened clouds, proving just how short the days going into winter were getting, Watanuki pulled the outer layer of his kimono a bit tighter to his body. The chill in the air was easily beginning to seep through his clothes, so proven by the small clouds of breath appearing by his face; yet the shopkeeper remained seated on the bench in the park, appearing to have no intent on moving for quite some time.
Though he had once made it a habit to visit this place as night fell, it had been a while since he last allowed himself to; spending his time more with others lately than just on his own. But with no one to occupy his time with tonight, Watanuki decided to finally come back to one of the places he liked to think in, assuming he would have most of the night to himself.
But fate always had other plans, didn’t it? It was only shortly after he had made himself comfortable that the presence of someone else-- something else-- caught his attention. Perhaps they had intended on startling him, or perhaps they had no intent at all; regardless, the shopkeeper quickly made note of the fact that he knew just how close they were to him.
“.. it isn’t often that I find myself running into anyone here at this time of night, though.. I suppose you have more of a reason to be than I do, hm?” raising his cupped hands to his face, Watanuki exhaled a warm breath into them; his tone of voice calm and somewhat amused.
“That is, if it’s alright for me to assume.”
