Who We Are Oneshot
This is a long one XD This was done to go with a commission that @unu-nunu-art did for me! So...keep in mind TrioTale and it’s oneshots are NOT CANON to Pale and Templates’s story :3
Lost and Hope are mine, and Template and Pale belong to @unu-nunu-art
Who We Are
Hope hummed as she sewed with Template, sitting on her large, flower printed bed. Template had turned around, so he wasn't really helping so much as just being there. It's ok Template...it's just a toy.....it isn't actually anyone....just a toy....
"Template?" He turned to see Hope had hidden the plushie she was working on so he'd be more comfortable. "You...you don't have to stay if you don't want to.....you can go..."
"H-Heh, why would I do that? It doesn't bother me! Not at all! Nope! Nu-uh!" Template shook his head rapidly and gave her a big smile. Play it cool....c'mon! She was lonely today with everyone gone, so you gotta be a hero! Hope smiled and walked over to where he sat on the floor, legs and arms crossed. "Not at all scared!"
"Template...." He looked at Hope's soft eyes and he relaxed a little, despite her closeness. "Wanna go downstairs and make muffins? We can sew later!"
"No! Uh, you're fine Hope, I promise." Hope tilted her head and he gave her a reassuring smile. "Y-You know what? I'll go downstairs and get some cookies, and you keep sewing!" Hope reached out for Template but he left quickly, hurrying down the stairs. Real smooth Template....really smooth. He stood in the kitchen for awhile, gripping the sink with his hands. "It's ok Template...it's just for a few hours....not to mention Pale is occupied with....with....whatever." He took a few deep, shaky breaths before reaching into the cupboard and grabbing a small bag of homemade cookies. Hope sure does love cooking....why couldn't we have done this instead? He shook his head and puffed his cheeks up. No! Bad Template! No bad thoughts! It's just a toy! She wanted to make you and Pale presents, and you're gonna let her! And you'll accept it no matter what! Yeah! He turned around when he heard small footsteps behind him and saw Hope standing there. "Uhh...you ok?"
"Do you...wanna bake something?" Hope shifted anxiously on her bare feet. "I don't know why it's making you so anxious, but-"
"I-I'm not anxious!" Template said, rubbing the back of his head. "I-I just....I'm excited!"
"But you were shaking-"
"With anticipation!" He puffed his chest out and beat it gently. "C'mon, let's eat these cookies and keep going! I'll even help you this time!"
"You will?!" Template stopped when he realized what he said, but the bright, hopeful eyes of the little girl in front of him had him sweating.
"Y-Yeah! Certainly!" Hope's eyes sparkled and Template chuckled nervously. Oh pencils....what did I just agree to?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Template sat across from Hope on the bed, trying his hardest to remain still. It's just a toy...it's just a toy.....it's just a toy.... He repeated the words in his head like a holy mantra. Hope gave him a worried look and he smiled. "I-I'm perfectly fine!"
"Are you sure? It's ok if you're nervous. Sewing is easy!" Hope smiled brightly. That's not the reason I'm anxious at all but....sure. "I-I know! It's just another form of creating something! I'm an absolute pro!"
"Wow, really?!" Hope's eyes seemed to sparkle ash he winked and smiled.
"Indeed! What kinda hero would I be if I can't sew my own stuff?" Hope's smile grew as Template laughed.
"Can I see you do it?" Template looked at her and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Pretty please?"
"U-Uhh....well...." Template could feel beads of sweat beginning to drip down his face. "M-Maybe later!"
"Aww...." Template sighed a little and he watched Hope turn around to reach behind her. He saw small, yellow button eyes on a black, round skull like shape and his eyes seemed to shrink.
No....nonononononononono...... Hope noticed him suddenly seeming frozen and she touched his hand gently.
"Template?"
Oh no....no no.....i...it isn't....no....
"Template, are you-" She went to hold his hand when he yanked it away almost violently. He climbed off the bed and Hope quickly followed. "Template what's wrong? Are you ok?" Hope moved forward and Template stumbled backwards.
He looked down at her and briefly, his vision darkened, showing a small, doll like version of the little girl reaching for him. "Are you hurt? Maybe I can help..." The voice warped and twisted, sounding sinister in his slowly panicking mind. Her fingers seemed to split at the seams as she reached for him, pealing away to show bloody strings and cotton.
"No...no...."
"Template-"
"Stop!" Template stumbled on a yarn blanket and fell over, dragging a small photo down off of Hope's dresser. He tried to catch it, but the photo hit the ground and shattered, and he fell the rest of the way, his hand being sliced by the glass. "O-Ow..."
"Oh, oh no!" Hope slid down in front of Template. "I'm so sorry Template! Are you hurt?" She asked, reaching for his hand. She stopped when she noticed his glove had torn from the palm to his index finger. "Oh....I...I can fix this! Ok?" She blinked and noticed Template staring at his hand, his face blank. "Tem...plate?"
"Heh....h-heh heh.....yellow...so...so bright...." Template let out a slight, unhinged giggle that had Hope shivering slightly. "Heh...heh heh..." Hope went to cover his hand when he snapped and slapped her hand away harshly. "St...stay....away...."
"But Template, you're-"
"Get away from me....don't....don't....." He stood shakily, holding his hand close to his chest. "Don't look at it....at me...don't...." Hope stood and went to reach for him when sharp bones pierced the floor right in front of her. She watched as Template's form seemed to flicker and waver more and more as his breathing grew harsher. "St....stay back....."
"T-" She moved around the bones and Template ran out of the room.
"Template!!!!" Hope ran after him, following outside as rain began to pound the area around them, wind howling and whipping Hope's hair across her face.
"Template?!" She called out and ran off the porch. "TEMPLATE!!!!!!!!!" Her tear stricken face was illuminated by lightning, and her voice drowned out by a loud peal of thunder. "Template....what happened?" Hope ran inside and grabbed her sky blue rain coat and slipped on some red rainboots. She ran back outside into the howling weather, and as lightning lit the sky up, she saw shoe prints in the mud. Template! She zipped her coat up and began to run into the woods. Hold on...I'm coming!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Template ran blindly into the dark woods his vision blurring as he moved. No...no no! I'm not...that's not me! I'm not-
Not what? He flinched as a version of himself seemed to appear before him, strings covering his ungloved hands and two around his neck. Not a glitch? An....error? Ha! You're delusional regardless if you think you can change this!
"No!" Template shouted , his body soaked with rain as the weather roared around him.
Keep telling yourself that....little broken one. The flickering version of himself leaned in, grin stretching impossibly wide on his face. Blood seemed to leak from his eye sockets, his glasses cracked as he cackled. Face it! We're just useless scrap! We're nothing more than a glitching mess, waiting to fall apart!
"NO!!! STOP IT!!!!" Template screamed louder and swung his pencil at the macabre version of himself. Eyes closed, he swung around blindly as the voice cackled, sounding more like static than an actual voice. "I'M NOT LIKE THAT!!!! I'M NOT!!!!"
If you weren't...you wouldn't have attacker her, now would you? Template stopped, his chest heaving from his swinging. That's right....you attacker her...could've skewered her. Then she would've been limp....like a little ragdoll. Template's eyes seemed to dim as he let his pencil drop to the ground, shivering. See? We're not that different.....are we?
"I...I didn't....no she's fine....she..." Template gripped his arms as the rain drenched him, making him seem small. "No...no...."
Yes, yes yes! He flinched as the figure touched him, ghostly fingers around his neck. C'mon now Template.....no need to be in denial like this. Template's limbs slowly stopped shivering as a hand covered his eyes next, the voice close. Let me have a little fun, hmm~? Together....
"T...ogether?"
We could protect others, I won't erase anything...promise. Template flinched when a loud roar snapped him out of the voice's trance and light seemed to return to his eyes.
"Oh no...this....oh crayons..." He looked around and picked his pencil up, shaking. "This is bad...the woods...how...when did I get here?" He tried hard to peer into the darkness, but the moment the woods lit up with a flash of lightning, he saw three pairs of eyes watching him. "Oh no...no!" He turned and stumbled blindly into the woods, shaking and panting as growls and roars followed him. I gotta get out of here! He tried to focus on making a screen, but panic began to grip his mind again as his focus shook.
His foot caught on a root and he yelled as he tumbled down a slope in the woods, screaming as he landed on his left arm with a loud snap. He hit the ground hard, cradling his broken arm to his chest and sobbing. Someone....please.....no..... He opened his eyes as hot breath fanned him and in the corner of his vision, he saw something shimmer. Blue...flowers....this place..... He covered his head as red suddenly enveloped his vision and he could hear the wailing cries of the amalgamates around him. They screeched as the sound of flesh being cleaved filled his head and he whimpered. When all was silent, he slowly sat up, looking around.
Piles of dust laid around him, blood tainting the wood of the trees. He looked up to see a familiar shape standing not to far away, the red glow illuminating his dust covered slippers. "S......Sans....."
"Why are you out here?" Template flinched as Sans's cold voice cut through the thunder around them. The rain was falling lightly now, the storm finally moving on past the mountain. "Weren't you supposed to be watching Hope tonight while my brother is out of town?"
"I...I was! I mean, I am!" Template said as he stood, his broken arm being held tenderly to his chest. "I was just...o-out for exercise!"
"Excersice.....in the middle of a thunderstorm." Sans's gaze seemed to go right through him, seeing into his Soul. "You are a piss poor liar Template....especially when you were screaming."
"Those were battle cries!"
"They were 'cries', certainly." Sans walked to him and his red and blue eyes were lit with anger. "I told you to watch her...protect her. And this is how you act?!"
"You don't know what happened..."
"Enlighten me then."
"It's not your business."
"It is when you come into my world and start raising hell!" Sans's voice echoed around Template and he flinched. "I warned you. Now tell me what the fuck is going on with you!" Template let out a shaky breath and Sans backed up, shaking his head. "Whatever issues you have, put them aside for a moment and think. You left Hope at the house...alone."
"She...she was fine....I didn't hurt her....." Sans growled a little and Template flinched again. "I-I didn't do anything!"
"Then why did you run out like that?!"
"I didn't-"
"Why were you screaming?!"
"I was-"
"Why were you-"
"BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID!!!!!" Template shouted, his voice sounding haunted as it reverberated around them. "I...I was....afraid...." Sans sighed and shook his head as Template gripped his arm tightly, the pain making him wince.
".....Good. You admitted it." Template's eyes widened as he looked at Sans. His whole stance seemed more relaxed now. "The first step in overcoming what you dread is to admit you're afraid Template. It's a sign."
"A....sign?"
"That you're changing...for the better." Template raised a brow in question but Sans didn't explain any further. "Blue told me she found Hope wandering around, looking for you. she'll be here soon."
She...she will? Oh pen and paper....oh what am I going to do?! Template began to fidget where he stood, eyes darting around. Sans watched him and let out a quiet chuckle. "What's so funny?!"
"You. Listen, I don't know why you were afraid, but you should know full well by now that Hope will never hate you."
Yeah...but.... He looked at his broken arm, and the cut glove attached to his limp hand. Seeing his hand made him shiver and he looked away. She doesn't know who I....no! I'm not....like him! Never! I...
Not like Error? Template's eyes widened as the figure of himself from before floated in the darkness, away from him and Sans. Heh, what a damned joke. Face it Template....we are like him. Template continued to stare, Sans giving him an odd look but remained silent. No one will accept you once they know that one, unavoidable truth....except me. I'm always here for you....Just me. A hand reached out from the darkness of the woods, blue strings tipped with dripping, crimson blood tied around his wrist and yellow fingers. Come to me.
I....I.... Template blinked as Hope walked through the figure, Blue floating at her side.
"T...Template?" Her blue and red eyes filled with relief as she ran up to him, sobbing. "Oh Template! I....I was so scared! You ran off and...and it was so dark but I tried to find you and....and..."
"Little one, please calm down." Blue chuckled. "He's right here." Template looked down at the trembling girl and guilt filled his Soul as she looked at him. Stars.....I... "I'm sorry." He whispered brokenly. He watched Hope's face flicker with different emotions before she ran up and hugged him, burying her face against his shirt. He stiffened, but the moment he felt hot tears against his shirt he relaxed. It's just Hope...let...let her have this.
"Template.....I was so scared....you fell and...and....don't ever run away again!" She pouted. He gave her a nervous chuckle and she backed up, huffing.
"Sorry Hope. I just...needed the fresh air." She gave him a doubtful look and he sighed. "I really am sorry. I didn't....hurt you, did I?" Hope shook her head and he slumped into the wet flowers. "Thank stars...."
"Template.....your arm..." He looked at the fractured limb and winced a bit. "Does...does it hurt?"
"No-not at all! I'm a hero, I can handle something like this easi-ow..." He began to wave his arms around, but the moment he moved his left arm he felt pain shoot up the limb and he stopped abruptly. Hope looked at the limb, and then at Sans.
"Do what you think is right Hope...." Hope looked into Template's yellow and red eyes and Template felt his Soul seize up.
Her eyes..... He could see something reflected in them, something that made him want to hold her close to him. She's....truly afraid. Terrified....but not of me. Then...what? She looked at his arm and took a deep breath. "Hope? What-"
"Can...you hold your arm out?"
"Huh?"
"Your arm....please? I can...take your hurt away." Her voice trembled with unbridled fear and for a moment, he wanted to tell her no. But the determination shimmering with the fear had him holding his broken limb out. "I...I just...want you to know...I'll miss you..."
"Huh? You'll miss me?" Hope held her hands out and Template watched with awe as her blonde hair held a golden glow to it, floating slightly as if a breeze was passing through. He felt magic flowing from her hands and he watched as his arm slowly mended, the gold light filling in the cracks. "H...holy.....holy canvases......" The moment the light faded, his arm was good as new. "There isn't any pain at all!" He moved it with ease and he heard Hope let out a small laugh. "That was awesome! Th-" He watched as Hope cradled her left arm, and his eyes shifted as blood dripped from her palm to the flowers below. "Hope?" She wobbled where she sat and began to tip over, but Template caught her in time. "Hope?!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Template carried her back quietly, his eyes trained on the small, shivering child in his arms. She....she did all of that...for me? He thought, his mind rewinding back to his conversation with Sans.
Earlier.....
"So she healed you." Template held the unconscious girl close, being careful with her injured arm.
"What do you mean?! Her arm's broken! I did-"
"No, that was not caused by you. At least, not directly." Sans explained. "Hope has the ability to heal nearly any injury....at the cost of her own body. So she transferred your injury to herself."
"Is she...a mage?"
"No." Sans shook his head. "She is not treated well by all the humans in the village, even most monsters shun her. Sick, an orphan...and a human with magic." Sans's gaze softened at the child in the black skeleton's arms. "She is very much alone. Loved by few, hated and feared by many more. And with her magic....there is no other human alive who has it. Humans have a word for what she is. Empath."
"Empath..." Template frowned and looked at her, the little girl's face scrunched in pain as she rested. "But it hurts her! Why in the world would she do this?!"
"Why do you play a hero?" Template flinched and looked away. "You two are very similar." Sans walked alongside him as they moved silently through the rain soaked woods.
"Earlier...when she said she'd miss me...what did she mean?"
"That is not for me to say." Template huffed and looked to the side. "You can ask her when she wakes up."
Present....
Template took Hope's soaking coat and boots off before taking her to her room. He placed her in her bed, covering her gently and adjusting her so her injured arm wouldn't be bothered. He said it'll heal in a few hours....but still... He watched her snuggle up and sigh sleepily. He turned around and began to pick the mess he made up. His mind wandered as he moved slowly, listening to Hope's quiet breathing. He stopped when he picked the broken glass and frame up, recognizing the picture on the floor. Her Uncle took this picture when we visited a few weeks ago... He thought. The picture had Hope between the two skeletons, Template winking at the camera and Pale staring blankly at the sparkler in his hand. Hope had two sparklers in hers, her eyes wide and filled with happiness, and Template was waving his around in an attempt to write his name.
He chuckled at the memory and pulled his pencil back out. He summoned a screen and began to draw a new picture frame on it, then grabbed the picture on the screen. As he pulled back, the frame left the screen and he smiled. The new frame was colorful and had small, sparkler like patterns on the corners. Perfect! He slipped the picture inside and set it back on the dresser. She'll love this! As he turned back around, he noticed Hope sitting up. "Oh! You're awake!"
"Template?" Hope was still holding her broken arm and he walked over to her, sitting on the edge of the bed. "You...you're....still here?" She looked nervous, scooting closer to the window next to her bed.
"Of course I am! A hero doesn't leave an innocent person behind!" Template pounded his chest proudly. He watched as she curled up and looked out the window. "Besides, I also promised to watch over you tonight! I'd be a really bad hero if I broke that promise."
"Y-yeah...." Template frowned as Hope looked down. Her voice was filled with a sadness he didn't even think she was capable of. "But you'll....leave after right?"
"Well, yeah...I need to go home and...relax a bit." Hope whimpered and he smiled a little. "But I'll come back again. I'm not gonna just leave you here." She turned to him, her eyes wide and filled with unshed tears. "You...you don't....hate me?"
"I should be asking you that. After all...I attacked you and-" He shook his head and gripped the blankets tight. "I'm sorry....I really....really am."
"You didn't mean it Template! You were scared, that's all!" Hope said and she placed a hand over his. He flinched a bit, but didn't move away. "I....I just thought....after I healed you...."
"You think I'd leave because of that? I've seen far crazier things in other worlds!" Template laughed. "It'd take more than that to keep me away Hope!" He ruffled her hair playfully and she giggled.
"Oh! I wanna finish your present before-" She reached out, but pain shot through her left arm and she whimpered. "I...I want to finish it...." Template looked at her limp hand, and then at his own with the torn glove. His yellow fingers twitched as he looked at them, but Hope quickly covered them. "Template..."
"I-I'll....h-help you finish." He said shakily. "I-I mean....if it means a lot-"
"But it's a present for you!" Hope frowned, looking down. "I have an idea!" She took her scarf off and handed it to him. "Tie it around your eyes!"
"H-Huh?"
"So you won't see the present! I can guide your hand where it needs to be while I sew!" She explained with a smile. "Teamwork, right?" Template looked down at her blue scarf, then at her again. "I promise you'll be ok. I'll stay right here and guide you." Template took a deep, shaky breath.
It's for her...you owe her...besides she said she'll be right here! He took his glasses off, then carefully tied the scarf around his eyes, completely blocking his sight. "Alright...." Hope gently took his hand and he could feel her shifting and moving.
"Ok....just hold here...." She guided his hand along and he could feel the soft fabric beneath his finger tips.
It feels so soft....He thought. His quick breathing slowed down as Hope guided his hand, helping him occasionally make a stitch here and there. It's ok Template....it's ok....
"It's ok Template." Hope's words echoed his own thoughts as they worked together in a quiet harmony. They continued on a little longer when Hope let him go. She removed his glove, causing his breathing to go faster. "It'll be ok. Just give me a few moments..." Just a few moments later she slipped it back on, and Template blinked behind the scarf.
I...don't feel anymore holes...
"Done!" He untied the scarf and looked down at the shape in his hands. "Do...you like it?" In Template's hands was a small, hand knit plushie of Hope. It had large, blue and red button eyes and a small blue dress made of silk. It had a smaller blue bow in it's long, yarn hair and a long scarf wrapped around its neck, made of yarn. Template looked at it, tears pricking his eyes as he stared. The left hand was slightly off on a few stitches, the ones she had guided him on. He looked at his glove to see small, little black and red stitches going across the torn parts.
"This....this...." He continued to look at the doll, and for once, it wasn't fear he felt when he saw it. She put so much time and heart into this...and... "Why.....make this for me?" Hope looked away as he turned to her. "Hope?"
"I...I know....someday I....I may not be here when you visit....you know? So I...I wanted you to have a small version of me! In case you get lonely!" Template looked back down at the doll again.
She may not.....oh....right. She's sick.... The thought of visiting and not seeing her bright smile there made his soul clench almost painfully and he hugged the small toy close. How...how can she be so....brave?
"Template are you ok? You're shaking...."
Why is she thinking about me when at any time....in this world where there is no Reset.....He continued to stare at the toy. I'm used to seeing others...go....and this isn't my home. So why...does this hurt so much? He felt something lean heavily against him and he turned, seeing Hope had fallen asleep. Worn out.....
He let out a loud yawn and leaned back against the headboard. Just.....a few minuets..... He slowly drifted off to sleep, his left hand resting on the small doll, and his right still holding the little girl's.
I kinda made a design of BA Hope, sort of, in missing the rest of her but this is the best i managed so far lol Hope Oc is mine.
A sorta quickie old face sketch of Battle Academia Hope (my oc), i should do her design already considering that i have Aphelios Design as well. So far its just her new hair style for that AU. Idk what the oc tags for lol are..
Not Alone Part 1
This was a gift for @assrtdj :3 It is loosely based off of her story called Hopeless (which, I know, isn’t done) But I really felt Hope would be fun to pair up with this little skeleton boy (as friends >3> C’mon!) So, enjoy! This is part one, and I will be posting part 2 shortly!
Not Alone Part One
Boots crunched through snow as a small figure wandered around, alone. He could feel something shifting underneath his hoodie and he unzipped it slightly. "Getting comfy, bro?"
"Gah!" A small head poked out and he chuckled.
"I can see that. But you need to stay inside, ok? It's safer." He pushed his brother's head back inside and zipped his hoodie back up before continuing his long, lonely walk. He wasn't sure how long he had walked when he saw a large lump in the snow. Huh? He walked over carefully, grabbing a small, broken branch and holding it in front of him. "W-Who's there?" He whispered softly. When the prone figure didn't move, he walked closer, poking it gently with the stick. A soft groan came from the figure and he backed up, holding the stick close again.
"Ngh....o...ow..." The figure slowly rose up, rubbing its head. "That...that hurt...." Sans's eyes widened as the figure brushed snow from long, blonde hair.
Is...is that....a human?! He backed up a bit further as red and blue eyes met his. They widened some before giving him a fearful look. "W-Who...who are you?"
"I...My name's Hope." She whispered quietly. She was wearing a light blue jacket with a soft, faux fur trim. Underneath was a blue dress and she had a pair of snow boots on with slipper socks on her feet. Her blonde hair was held up with a large blue bow, another tied around her waist and behind her dress. "I...I was just.....wandering the woods with my Uncle when we got separated...I fell down and ended up here...." She said, shivering slightly. "W-Who are you?"
"....Sans." He said, still keeping his distance. Hope tilted her head, standing slowly. He backed up more, holding the stick out. "D-Don't come closer, human!" Hope stopped moving, holding her arms as she shivered where she stood. "I-I won't let you hurt my little brother!"
"You have a little brother?" Hope asked quietly. "U-Umm....I-" She heard gurgling and Sans's face held a small, blue blush to it. "Are you...hungry?"
"N-No!" Sans huffed, crossing his arms.
"Hungwy." Papyrus spoke from inside his jacket.
"I am not!" Hope giggled and Sans turned her direction. "What's so funny to you, human?"
"I think your tummy was talking." She smiled brightly. "Here, I have some snacks!" Hope fished around in the small backpack she had on, pulling out a small bag of cookies. "These are cinnamon, butterscotch chip cookies!" She held one out to Sans. "You can have it! I have lots!" Sans carefully walked over, keeping the stick close as he snatched the cookie away. Hope watched with eager eyes as Sans slowly took a bite. "W-Well? You like it?"
This....this is really good! He thought. "Y-Yeah....this is good." He mumbled, crumbs sticking to his face. "You uhh...have any more?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sans had found a dry spot on the ground as the three of them sat down. Papyrus was sitting in his lap, stuffing a cookie in his mouth. "Thanks. Uhh....I'm sorry about earlier."
"It's ok!" Hope smiled. "You're all down here because of humans so....so it's ok." She said, holding her legs close to her body. "But uhh....why aren't you with the other monsters?"
"...."
"Don't wanna talk about it?"
"No, I don't need to with a human." He huffed and Hope looked away.
"S-Sorry....it just....isn't a fun thing to talk about. But uh....me and my brother are alone, so-"
"I'm all alone too." Sans looked at her as she curled up slightly. "I....don't have parents...or siblings." She turned and smiled softly as Sans held Papyrus closer. "But that's ok! I have monsters who raise me!"
"So you're...an orphan?" Hope nodded, adjusting her blue bow slightly in her hair. "That....that's sad...."
"It's ok! I have my Uncle and Mama Tori that take care of me! Until someone adopts me...if...if they want to...." Sans watched her curl up tighter, shivering a little in her furry blue coat. "It's...a little cold here."
"We're not to far away from a small town called Snowdin." Sans explained, munching the remaining piece of his cookie. Papyrus had already finished and was watching Hope with a curious stare. "It's full of monsters with fur."
"And skeletons who don't have skin?" Hope giggled.
"Y-Yeah, I suppose so." Sans smiled, rubbing the back of his head. Papyrus flopped into the snow, waddling his way over to Hope. "P-Paps-"
"Up!" Hope looked down and giggled as Papyrus looked at her with big, wanting eyes as his arms stretched out. "Up!" Hope lifted him into her lap and he laughed, tugging on her hair slightly. "S...String!"
"No silly. Humans have hair!"
"H.....haiw?" Hope laughed and nodded, Sans moving closer with unease in his eyes.
"It's ok Sans! Do you want him back?" Hope tried to hand Papyrus back, but he pouted when his brother took him, and huffed, walking back over and climbing into her lap again. "Papyrus..."
"I've never seen him so stubborn before." Sans chuckled a little, his unease slowly melting away. If Paps feels safe around her, she mustn't be that bad..... He thought.
"Aww, maybe he likes it that we're friends?" Hope smiled, lifting Papyrus up and down, making him laugh.
"F...friends?"
"Well...if you wanna I mean. I...I know my eyes look weird...but-"
"Wait a second, you think I wouldn't want to be your friend because of your eyes?" Sans couldn't believe a word he was hearing.
"W-Well-"
"That's...a kinda dumb reason." Sans shrugged. "I mean, you're eyes are actually....uhh...." He looked away, a small blush on his cheeks.
"Kinda.....pretty....."
"You mean it?" Hope smiled and he coughed a little, covering his face with his hood.
"Y-Yeah but don't think I'm always gonna say stuff like that!" Sans said hastily and she giggled. Why are girls always so happy with stupid little compliments?!
"Well...thank you. No one's ever said that to me." Hope took her small bag off and dug around in it. "Aha! Knew I had some!" Sans turned to peek and Hope shook her head. "No peeking! Ok....now hold your hands out!"
"Why?"
"Just do it!"
"Are all girls so pushy?"
"Please~!"
"Alright, fine." Sans huffed and held his hands out. He felt something warm and soft being slipped on them and once she moved away he looked at his hands. Hand knit, dark blue gloves and bright blue fingertips now covered his hands. He wiggled his fingers a bit and looked at her. "Did....did you make these?"
"Yup! See? Our hands are the same size!" She held her hand out, looking at him expectantly. "C'mon Sans! See?" As Sans nearly placed his hand against hers, a soft, mocking voice spoke from not too far off.
"Wow, talk about interesting."

Sans felt his entire body freeze at the voice that spoke. Both kids turned to see a small, yellow flower looking at them. "You two look like you're having fun, despite the cold!"
"You...."
"A...talking flower?" Hope looked at him confused. The flower turned and gave her a bright smile, but she could feel a sense of uneasiness in her Soul.
"Yup! Howdy, I'm Flowey!" Flowey smiled brightly, popping closer to them. Hope stood with Sans, holding Papyrus close. The two kids watched the flower carefully. "Aww, why so scared, hmm?" Flowey tilted his head, giving them an innocent look.
"What do you want?" Sans asked, holding his stick close as Flowey's grin stretched.
"Just to join in on the fun, that's all." Flowey chuckled. Sans moved in front of Hope, the stick shaking in his hands. "Aww, what's the matter? Scared of lil' old me?"
"You...you don't seem nice..." Hope mumbled. She held Papyrus closer, looking at Sans. "Sans...is....is he safe?"
".....Go away." Sans whispered at Flowey, his eyes filled with fear. "Y-You'll just hurt him....go away..."
"Aww, now c'mon." Flowey grinned and looked at Hope. "So, human! Ever played hide-and-seek before?"
"N...no....." She admitted softly.
"Oh, well it's super fun and super simple!" He slowly rose out of the ground, vines sprouting from around him. The vines were covered in thorns, and his face twisted into a large, eerie grin. "You three little specks run and hide...." He raised his vines up high. "And I seek!"
"Hope, run!" Sans grabbed her arm and the two began to run as a large vine slammed down hard where they had been standing. The two kids ran through the trees as Flowey followed behind them, his vines seeking them out and smashing trees as he hunted them. Hope held Papyrus as close to her as she could as Sans lead her through the splintering trees, Flowey's laughter filling the woods.
"Run run all you like~....I will find you~...." He giggled wickedly, his eyes glinting with sick glee. He slammed a vine down and Sans felt the ground give way under him. He managed to cross the ground, but Hope lost her footing, and Sans jolted to a stop as Hope hung on.
"Sans!" Hope held onto him , her body hanging above the dark below her.
"H-Hang on!" Sans tried to pull her up, and she managed to slide Papyrus to Sans. "Alright, got him! Lemme pull you t-"
"Heh, found you~...." Sans's eyes widened as a vine slammed behind him, causing the ground beneath him to give way. He pulled Papyrus close as the three of them fell into the darkness below them.
