🇬🇧⬇️ Nobody's perfect. Seht ihr das Feature? Von Weihnachten bis Anfang/ Mitte Februar habe ich drei Paar Hope Socks gestrickt. Begonnen habe ich mit einer grünen Socke für meine Zwergenfüße, um zu üben und ein Gefühl für das Jaquardmuster zu bekommen. Das hat überraschend gut geklappt und ich war wie im Rausch. Ruckzuck entstand dann das graue Paar in Größe 40/41als Motivationsgeschenk für eine Freundin, die im Februar einen neuen Job angefangen hat. Dann hab ich die maritime Version für die Lieblingskapitänin in 38 gestrickt. Alles ganz smooth und ohne Zwischenfälle. Blieb noch die zweite grüne Socke und da hab ich mich zum ersten Mal verstrickt. Vielleicht war ich etwas zu sicher... Nach einer Operation am offenen Strickstück ist ein Fehler im Muster dann doch dringeblieben, weil ich ihn erst sehr spät bemerkt hab. Und nun sind sie wunderschön und perfekt unperfekt. Wie wir alle. 🥰 --- Nobody's perfect. Can you spot the feature? Between Christmas and early/mid february, I knitted 3 pairs of Hope Socks, starting with one green sock for my tiny feet to practise and get a feel for the colourwork. After that, the grey socks in size 40/41 which were a motivational gift for a friend that started a new job in February knitted up really quickly. ThenI proceeded to the maritime version for my favourite captain. It all went smoothly and without any trouble. This left the second green sock and for the first time, I made a mistake. Maybe I was a little over-confident. After one open-sock surgery, one error in the jacquard pattern remained because I spotted it very late. And now they are gorgeous and perfectly imperfect. 🇬🇧⬇️ Heute mal was Fachliches: Die Hope Socks sind tatsächlich das anspruchsvollsten Jaquardmuster, das ich bisher gestrickt habe. Und ich bin schon überrascht und ein bisschen stolz auf mich, wie gut es klappt. Als Grundfarbe habe ich ein Tweed-Garn mit bunten Akzenten verwendet, dessen Effekt ich mir aber etwas anders vorgestellt hatte. Teilweise sind die Sprenkel sehr locker und sehen eher aus wie bunte Fusseln... Am liebsten hätte ich etwas Gesprenkeltes mit Handfärbe-Charme gehabt, hatte aber kurz vor Weihnachten keine Zeit, groß zu suchen. Zudem mag ich wegen zwei Strängen auch eigentlich keine Bestellung aufgeben und mein innerer Geizkragen sträubt sich auch, so etwas Teures und Kostbares ausgerechnet für Socken zu verwenden, die in unseren Winterstiefeln doch ganz schön beansprucht werden. Wie sehr ihr das? Insgesamt "passt's aber schon", wie man hier sagt. 😁 --- Let's talk shop today: The Hope Socks are the most sophisticated colourwork pattern I have knitted so far. And I am quite surprised and pleased how well it's working out. For the main colour I chose a yarn with a colourful tweed effect that I had imagined a bit differently, to be honest. Sometimes the speckles are hardly attached to the main yarn and look more like lint... I'd have loved a beautiful hand-dyed effect, but with only a few days until Christmas I didn't have time to find something adequate. Also, I don't like placing an order for only two skeins and in general, my inner Scrooge doesn't like the idea of using something so costly and precious on socks that will be strained in our winter boots quite a lot. How do you see that? But overall, I'm happy with the result. 🇬🇧⬇️ Freundschaft. Das ist zusammen lachen, wandern, Eis essen. Es ist auch Tränen trocknen, nach der Trennung beim Umzug helfen, Stellenangebote weiterleiten. Manchmal ist es einfach nur da sein, zuhören, Tee nachschenken. Oder ein Paar Hope Socks schicken, auf denen die Katze schon ein paar Mal genächtigt hat... --- Friendship. That's laughing together, hiking, having icecream. It's also drying tears, helping with the post-breakup moving, forwarding job offers. Sometimes it is just being there, listening, pouring some more tea. Or sending a pair of Hope Socks on which the cat has already spent a few nights...
