Tonight I'm enjoying a crisp Hopper Whitman Winter Brew while I wait for my friend to show up so we can go to something called Rocktoberfest. It's supposed to be brewed with "a blend of toasted spices." I don't taste them. I've had a plethora of winter brews and even pumpkin ale lately, so the lack of spice was a major disappointment. But, it's crisp, refreshing, hoppy, and better than the other option in my fridge right now. (Miller Lite) It does have a slightly spicy "after-taste." I'm not sure if I like it though, it makes it hard to drink and takes away from a smooth finish that I feel the crispness and hoppiness ask for. This is NOT a beer you can chug. It would hurt.
But you can't beat the cute jaunty grasshopper on the front!!! That's honestly why I bought this beer. It even says "An expert in his craft, the ever dapper Hopper Whitman bounds over snowy hillsides snug in his top hat and pint in hand to bring you his latest concoction: Winter Brew!" I feel like I'm drinking a children's story and I like it.
3 Stars.
