A few logs of locally grown Cherry and Hornbeam caught my eye at a recent sawmill visit. Here they're being measured with a ¼ girth tape that's used in conjunction with Hoppus tables to determine the volume (in cubic feet/ft³). The left hand column is the length in feet, middle column is ¼ of the circumference in hoppus feet and inches, right hand column is the volume of the log in ft³. Before I can have them milled I need to prepare some platforms to stack the boards on once they've been sawn. Fortunately I'm not a very keen gardener, so it'll be no problem to sacrifice a little bit of lawn. . . . . . #hoppustape #sawmill #sawlogs #cherry #hornbeam #partoftheprocess #lovewood #seasoning #hardwoodtimbersupplies #locallysourced #growninthechilterns https://www.instagram.com/p/B7JKWsRAjSg/?igshid=1fpywz2sd9zpn
