First-day-of-class doodles from Tuesday
alignment inversion AU for the fracture cast (doesn't have to be 1:1 inversion, just general reversal of usual motivation and morals)
Fracture’s cast is getting pretty big now so I’ll stick with the “main” characters (Michael, William, Horado, Aaron, Thalia, and Scáthán) - Michael went looking for something like William. Instead of being involved in an accident he faked his death to trick a demon into possessing him. Whether he was looking for fame or power I don’t know, but he found it. - William is would love to cause some chaos - if that’s alright with you, that is. He was either the worst or the best person to happen upon Michael, because on the one hand a more actively chaotic demon could have formed an unholy alliance with him, but a more assertive one might have kept him in check. William was easily cowed into handing over his power to Michael, and the rest is fiery, blazing history. - Horado is the living embodiment of “not my problem.” Sure, he has time powers, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to lift a finger to save the world. The only reason Deadline hasn’t fired him yet is because he needs to keep an eye on him and his developing temporal abilities. - Aaron’s canon personality is basically “fuck this, fuck that, fuck off, and especially fuck you for pitying me.” Invert that and you get the whiniest, clingiest, pity-party throwing person ever. He’ll probably say people avoid him for his disability, but nope, it’s the complaining and “life sucks competition”-ing. - Thalia is basically this version of Aaron’s only friend, and even then she’s only there because she doesn’t want to offend him by not hanging out with him anymore. She’s a real downer and likes to play the victim for being a human among supernatural entities. - Scáthán is still Self-Destruction, but he takes a more positive attitude to it. Instead of being the plant-killer of humanity, he acts more as its pruner, trimming away parts of people’s self-image and actions that cause them harm. Self-destruction in a more positive way, getting rid of things that shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
2 and 11 for Horado, 7 and 13 for Scathan, 2 for Mata, 12 for anyone you like, 20 for any or all
Horado
2: What’s your character’s aesthetic (things associated with your character)?
the sound of sand falling through an hourglass, military-style jackets with the collars turned up, polished cherry-wood and antique gold, the smell of cinnamon and cardamom
11: Does your character have any tattoos, piercings, mechanical parts, or other body modifications? What’s the story behind them?
Yep! Horado has a tattoo on his shoulder of an elaborate clock face. The time it shows is 3:35, the time of his birth. It’s both an expression of interest and a memento mori of sorts - a reminder of the fact that he’s going to die at that same exact time. He’s also been considering a camera lens on the other shoulder, but that will have to wait until the shop stays in a city long enough for him to find a tattoo parlor that can do it right.
Scáthán
7: What would be an average shopping list for your character?
Food, food, more food, mirror and metal polish, laundry detergent, did I mention food?
13: What’s your character’s preferred method of self-care?
Eating is a common method, especially when he’s stressed about something. Letting himself rest after staying up weeks in a row, preferably cocooned in as many blankets as he can find, is another good one. Finding something to stab makes for good stress relief for him, and it makes him happy.
What? I never said is self-care methods were good.
Mata
2: What’s your character’s aesthetic (things associated with your character)?
Disembodied eyeballs, dark alleys, those weird noises that sound innocuous in in the daytime but become terrifying in the dark, long coats and scarves, dripping mucus
Random Pick: Michael
12: Does your character have any addictions, allergies, diseases, illnesses, disorders, or disabilities? How does this affect their life?
Michael has some pretty bad social anxiety, mostly related to interacting with large groups of people or strangers. Aside from the obvious issues with common social situations, such as making calls or going out shopping, it’s made it very difficult for him to seek help with dealing with William. He’s afraid to bring up the subject both because it involves telling people about William and he’s convinced that people won’t want to be around him if they know, and because he’s afraid the mere act of asking for help would make him seem pathetic and clingy to others and make them not want to be around him.
He also has a very mild peanut allergy. He eats Reese’s anyways.

20: Describe any AUs you have for your character/s.
There’s a lot of them, mostly involving ScáthánWith him, there’s a good many supernatural creatures AUs, such as the Vampire, Naga, and Mer AUs; a couple with @mostlyv0id-partiallystars‘s Gordon Knott and @kykyl25‘s Jacob - one with them as themselves, one with them as normal humans, working in retail no less. There’s also the college AU, once again with Gordon. Actually all of his interactions with Gordon are technically AU, I just keep forgetting that. For everyone else, there’s a Human AU for the personifications, an animal hybrids AU, and a rather nonsensical AU where William possessed Michael’s soccer ball instead of him.
A Horado
So, Scribblings are essentially temporal parasites, burrowing into a mortal host’s skin and eating the lifetime of the surrounding tissue, causing premature cell death in the areas around them. If a bunch of them get together they can be a nightmare to deal with. This is one of a long list of reasons why Oblivion doesn’t interact much with humans. But with them visiting the shop all the time, Horado was bound to get infested at some point.
Also trying new shading styles just because.
Michael: 3, 49, Nem: 28, 44, Deadline: 21, 28, Horado: 15, 28, Scáthán: 2, 13, 24, 44
Michael
3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?
Michael’s early childhood was pretty good; his parents weren’t perfect and both had to work to keep things together, but they did love him very much. Things kind of went downhill around age 8 when two very important, interrelated, events occurred. One was the death of his mother in a car accident; the other was the entrance of William into his head. Michael didn’t see much of his dad for several years after that, both because he had to take multiple jobs to make up for the loss of Michael’s mother and subconsciously because he had a hard time thinking of Michael quite as his son after William’s possession. His fondest memory of his childhood is after his first dance recital when his parents took him to his favorite restaurant (a local place with a great chicken nuggets and a fun place for kids to play) as a reward for being brave enough to get through the recital without freezing up from stage fright. A bad memory? Well, I think I’ve already covered that up there…
49. What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Is there something they have to take everywhere with them?
Michael’s most valued object is his glasses for practical purposes, but for sentimental reasons his favorite object is a thin hematite ring that had previously belonged to his mother, which he wears almost all the time. For the most part he isn’t sentimental, but things relating to his family receive a special status in his mind.
Nemuel
28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?
Nemuel isn’t scared of much, as a general rule; he doesn’t really have to be. Something that scares them in general is people’s anger. He’s been on the receiving end of people’s rage because they perceive him to be the cause of their issues in the realm of sleep. They can’t do permanent damage to him, but they can hurt him deeply emotionally, and for obvious reasons he really doesn’t like that. When he’s scared he tends to freeze up, being unable to speak or react well to the danger in question.
44. What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most?
Nemuel’s favorite season is autumn because he likes the feeling of the air and the sound of the leaves blowing in the wind. He’s fond of the rain, as long as he’s indoors for it. He can deal with most temperatures, but he’d prefer the cold to heat. He tends to complain the most in sunny weather because the light is kind of blinding with his glowy moon face.
Deadline
21. Do they have a temper? Are they patient? What are they like when they do lose their temper?
Deadline is incredibly patient, or at least he is very capable of dealing with things he dislikes without showing his anger too much. He has a temper, but it takes more repeated, serious offenses to trigger it. However, when he does lose his temper, it can be almost literally explosive. He’ll often go into monster form and lock someone in time for the express purpose of either yelling at them or hurting them, depending on what they did. With people who get on his nerves with great frequency (Scáthán mostly), he won’t bother with the formalities and will usually dispatch the offender with little effort.
28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?
Once again, Deadline isn’t afraid of things in the sense of things that might bring him physical harm, because there aren’t really that many. However, he is scared of people he loves dying because of how much emotional harm it brings him and other people hurting hurts him as well. Scared Deadline is frantic, trying to prevent the subject of his fear from coming to pass, often to his own detriment.
Horado
15. Are they good at cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?
Horado’s a fairly decent cook, if you like pasta and sandwiches. To be fair, he is pretty good at them, but various other complicated projects, like baking or desserts, he’s not fantastic at. He enjoys cooking for himself, but he gets a little nervous when other people are supposed to eat his food. People tend to like his food; it’s not Deadline-quality, but then again, what is?
28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?
Horado has a few fears, most of them normal for a mere mortal - heights, dangerous animals, other people, etc. He does have the added fear of doing something seemingly innocuous to the timeline and having it all unravel and he doesn’t know what to do about it. That’d probably be his biggest fear. When he’s afraid of something mildly scary, he tends to fidget or stare at the ceiling to distract himself from whatever it is. More pressing fears he tends to do the opposite, freezing up or panicking a little bit, which only tends to make the situation worse.
Scáthán
2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them?
Scáthán has a few titles. One is the Mirror Man, which he got for obvious reasons. He also has Death of the Self, Poison Arrow, Spanner in the Works, Destroyer of Worlds, Black-Blooded Devil, Glass Fiend, and That Bastard. These titles came from his power to trick people into thinking his thoughts are their own, his bright colors and poisonous personality being compared to a poisonous frog, his tendency to be the thing that fucks people over without warning, an overdramatization of his power to wreck people’s lives, his black blood and horrible personality, his glass face and teeth and horrible personality, and a colloquial name for him, respectively.
13. What is their least favourite food?
Scáthán hates anything that is sour or bitter like coffee or anything with lemon in it that doesn’t have several cups of sugar too. Eggs are also among his least favorites because they’re rubbery and weird-tasting.
24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?
Scáthán sleeps about half as much as a human would, meaning that he sleeps roughly eight hours every forty-eight hours or so. He doesn’t snore, because he doesn’t breathe, but his tongue does tend to loll out of his mouth when he’s in particularly deep sleep. And he drools. Scáthán is pretty picky about his sleeping spots. Only the softest, plushiest mattress and pillow will do. He curls up in his many blankets and is content.
44. What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most?
Scáthán loves the summer heat and sunny weather. He loves the heat and will complain to high heaven about rain, because it makes him cold and gets drops of water all over his mirror.
