Coming Home | Basil and Dawson

Basil sat in his chair, scanning a book with idle attention. He wore his usual dressing gown and his pipe was held in one hand. Mrs. Judson was bustling between the living room and the kitchen, tidying odds and ends. It was a typical day at Baker Street, where Basil had been back to living with only the dear landlady for the past year. Dawson had moved out to live with his wife and they had kept up correspondence through letters and the occasional visit, when Dawson would rejoin him on his cases, but since the moving out they hadn't had nearly as much time together. But what Basil hadn't heard was news of Dawson's latest tragedy.
