This one was an oddity because I was glitching the image of the spider while recording it over a VHS tape that had an old silent film recorded on it. This particular image was captured right as the recording of the spider was halfway through ending as a text frame of the silent film was underneath it, and it just happened to have the word “stranger,” which felt too perfect not to keep. That’s the beauty of mechanical/analog processes: happy accidents.

Another case where a part of the silent film I’ve been recording over on VHS came through in a couple frames, and it was too perfect of an accident not to include, especially as a They Live reference.

Horror Glitch 15, an experiment in glitching a still image for about 10 mins while filming it at half-speed, then cutting the frames up and re-ordering them according to how much of the image came through, so it builds up gradually out of the darkness.
