hey pia, what if nick really wanted to hang out with niall at the party but he was working after all. what if niall came to him anyway at random moments of the party, looking all drunk and hot and sweaty from dancing and nick is weak. what if niall is shamelessly flirting with him and nick doesn't know what to do with that because there are people everywhere and he can't throw himself on niall like this, even if he really, really wants to.

(2)  what if nick feels that awful burning jealousy whenever he spots niall wrapped around some golfer, charming whoever he pleases to. what if, at the very ending of the party nick takes his stuff and is ready to go to his hotel room, just to find niall, a bit too drunk somewhere by the bar. what if niall says “why keep me waiting for so long grimmy?”, his voice low and slurry. what if nick, being a good friend he is, helps niall back to his room but doesn’t leave as soon as he thought he would?

yeah, what if? what if this has happened more and more lately? not so much niall’s flirting, he’s always been flirty and a little handsy, but nick’s noticing. because nick’s noticing, boy is he noticing. what if they’ve been hanging out more and more lately even though nick’s not sure who initiated it or what exactly has changed, only that he’d really quite like to get his mouth on niall horan at any given time. what if nick wonders a little too often whether this is mutual for it not to be at least a little bit? and what if nick’s starting to doubt that again when he sees niall around all of these golfers, each one clearly enamored and niall being so very giving with his smiles and laughs and touches? so he pretends it’s funny, takes a couple videos and puts the shareable ones on his insta, guiltily saves the other ones to his phone to rewatch when he’s alone. what if, all the while, he’s secretly having a meltdown over what this means, him being this jealous of everyone who gets niall’s attention? what if the only thing that can make him feel at ease is niall’s attention whenever he gets it? what if he counts how many times niall comes over until he loses count, and that makes him feel better? and then of course, niall’s there at the bar being very obvious, but what if nick’s still not sure if this means what he hopes it does? what if niall kisses him in his hotel room and nick wants to kiss back, but he has to ask if this is something niall is going to regret once he sobers up. what if niall looks at him for a moment before throwing his head back and laughing (nick needs to get his mouth on that neck at least once in his life), then says, “you’re really a bit dim sometimes, huh? thought i was being obvious all this time and you just didn’t want me” so obviously nick has to prove just how much he does want him. what if?
