Ok so someone probably wrote about this before but I just realized:
In the very first episode we get to know that Todd told Bojack that his parents didn't approve of his lifestyle. And so Bojack thought that Todd got kicked out for being gay. That's why he let him stay at his house.
And then few episodes later we discover that Herb got kicked out of Horsing Around for being gay, as it was considered 'not family friendly'.
So I guess we can assume that Bojack was still feeling guilty for not fighting hard enough for Herb back then.
And this is the real reason why Bojack agreed to such thing.
