things i learned by becoming a medic for a summer camp of 50 kids with only basic first aid

- if a kid sprains something and needs it wrapped up give them chalk to decorate it with it washes off super easily and gives them something to do

- sometimes they need to see that someone is there for them more than anything else talk to them and the tummy ache goes away

- warm drinks (usually tea or hot chocolate for special cases) calm them down and they will instinctively calm their breathing in order to be able to drink

- give privileges for when they are getting a wound disinfected (you can scream as loud as you want for the young kids and you can swear for the older ones)

- put calamine lotion on minor burns to stop it watering and heal faster

- kids will keep scratching mosquito bites to blood to the point where their entire legs are covered in wounds don't try to fight them or put 30 band aids on them just tell them they can't go swimming with open wounds so they leave the scabs to heal
