in regards to the royal radio hoax from the hot 30

ok so it's awfully sad that a woman died as a result of all of this

but

first and foremost, the presenters never in a million years actually thought it would work. it was more of a 'see if you can' thing rather than a big organized prank call. secondly, the call was pre-recorded and vetted by lawyers before being played to the public. so obviously on this end it was all deemed ok. it didnt break any laws, nor was it offensive. and thirdly (and possibly most importantly) it wasn't done with the intention of any malice or bad intentions. its not like there was some greater plot to continue pretending to be the queen or bring down the family or anything. it was harmless.

had the english media just been rational about it and said 'ok well we dont like people impersonating the queen (however badly) lets tighten up on security a bit and please dont do it again' it wouldn't have been anywhere near as big a deal as it ended up being

and my point about that there is this woman, whether she had pre-existing issues and this was the final straw, or just felt so ashamed of herself for putting the call through, might just not have felt so bad as to kill herself if she didn't become an international disgrace. she might not have if the media didn't make her (and the woman that actually gave the details) out to be the biggest idiots in the history of forever. 

basically i'm tired of the english press (mainly) making it out to be entirely the fault of the two presenters because yes, they did make the call, but some of the blame has to fall to them because they made it out to be the big deal that it just isnt and never should have been had england had rational thought, consideration of the repurcussions and a bit of a sense of humour?

but now a woman's killed herself out of shame (again, whether it was the trigger for bigger issues or a singular thing i dont know, but it's the same result) and two presenters are going to have to deal with that for the rest of their lives feeling like they personally killed a human being with a phonecall and for that i blame the english media and their 'outrage' that never needed to happen.
