How my ocs are handling the pandemic

Souta: Rarely seen without Haruka so they quarantined together. They're living their best domestic love life. Lots of naps and cuddles with the cats.

Hotaru: Thankful for the peace and quiet. Can still work since he lives at the apartment complex he’s employed at so he’s doing good. Kura gets him to do video calls so he doesn’t completely fall back into being alone.

Rio: 3 weeks into is when she starts to feel her nerves fray. She loves her family, dearly, but she needs space! Drowns herself in fan fiction and conspiracy theories about the virus. Is overly protective of her grandma during this time. 

Noah: Freaked out at first, is very adamant on the six feet apart rule. Like seriously, please stay back. He misses people so much, probably the most touch starved he’s been in his life. Blows through a lot of paint and books to keep his worries down. Hands dry from way too much washing.

Kura: Made herself the designated ‘traveler’ of her household. She’s the one that goes out for groceries and makes it as fun as possible. Takes lots of walks at night, though that’s not too out of the ordinary. Checks up on all her friends and family every few days.

Shiro: Worked constantly from home for the first few weeks but completely burnt himself out. After that mostly been in a weird, depressed haze of sleeping, snacking, and watching bad reality shows.

Nikhil: Happen to be visiting home while the quarantine was placed. Is missing the finer things only found in more urban areas. As much as his villages chefs try, they just can’t make potatoes taste as good as bagged chips..

Cooking headcanon

Hotaru has always had some interest in cooking. Food and meal time was a constant in whatever place he was at growing up so it was a comfort to know he could always count on them. 

He didn’t learn he had a knack for it though until he moved out and started supporting himself fully. Living off of junk food and convenience store meals wasn’t appealing so Hotaru taught himself to cook! He knew basics already but he learned how to make food last and add his own flare to dishes. 

Sleeping headcanon

Hotaru doesn’t have much trouble sleeping. He had nightmares like anyone else but other than that he can sleep easy. Hotaru doesn’t toss and turn and doesn’t have any trouble waking up early if needed. 

Kissing headcanon

Everything he knows about kissing he learned from Kura. He had no experience before and wasn’t the best. A very embarrassing topic for Hotaru if ever brought up. 

As for kissing in general he is very gentle with his kisses, though if Kura was asked she would admit that he can get a little rough with kisses during intimate times. 

Soft spot headcanon

Kids, especially kids that he can see himself in. Kids that don’t get along well with others, is shuffled between family/guardians, etc. 

Another reason is Hotaru has always wanted a family. A big one too so kids remind him of what he wants in the future. He’s all about that domestic, a home filled with laughter and love, kind of thing.

(let's send some questions for some cute beans!!) Does Kura absolutely refuse to be anywhere near frogs because of her fear or is she able to tolerate them? If Hotaru and Kura went on a double date with Souta and Haruka, where would they like to go? Is there a certain violin piece that Noah's fond of playing? Have cinnamon buns always been a favorite treat of Noah's or did he come to like them later in life?

Does Kura absolutely refuse to be anywhere near frogs because of her fear or is she able to tolerate them?

If she can help it she is going to be as far away from the amphibians as possible. So she doesn’t have much to worry about unless they somehow find their way into a room or building she is in.

If Hotaru and Kura went on a double date with Souta and Haruka, where would they like to go?

I can see this as being difficult to decide between the four. Kura would suggest amusement park, hike and picnic. Hotaru would prefer something more low key, maybe seeing a movie or a simple dinner. They probably finally settle on voting and end up giving everyone’s ideas (including whatever ones Souta and Haruka might have) a try. 

Is there a certain violin piece that Noah's fond of playing?

It would be hard for Noah to narrow it down to just one piece. Different pieces can spark different emotions and thoughts and picking one would be near impossible. Here’s a few that I could see him playing often: Ave Maria, Viva La Vida, Little Talks.

Have cinnamon buns always been a favorite treat of Noah's or did he come to like them later in life?

He’s always been fond of them but I don’t think it became his favorite until he was out of the orphanage. Noah’s always had a sweet tooth as well but he didn’t get to indulge in it much until he found his job at the bookstore due to lack of money. His favorite kind are freshly made ones that he can get at bakeries or donut shops but he likes the prepackaged ones that stores sell too.

GUILTY PLEASURES: Meat,  especially really good, quality meat. 

PHOBIAS: Hotaru is really uncomfortable in crowds, especially if it’s in a small area.

WHAT THEY WOULD BE INFAMOUS FOR: Fighting, it’s already caused him to get a bad reputation in the schools he’s been in as well as rumors forming.

WHAT HAVE THEY/WOULD THEY HAVE GOTTEN ARRESTED FOR: Fighting or being found in the wrong place at the wrong time and being accused of something.

CHARACTER YOU SHIP THEM WITH: My other oc, Kura. They are my two oldest ocs and through the years they have just stuck together. Their story has changed a lot over the years but their relationship 

CHARACTER MOST LIKELY TO MURDER THEM: Idk, he doesn’t have the best attitude so I’m sure there i someone out there who might like the chance to kill him

FAVORITE BOOK GENRE: I don’t think Hotaru would be too picky. He might try reading a romance one in order to learn from it but he probably sticks to less lovey-dovey stuff.

LEAST FAVORITE BOOK CLICHÉ: The girl always going for the bad boy. He doesn’t see the appeal and how they think he won’t hurt them in some way. Ironic considering he could be put in the bad boy category with his past of fighting and usual rough demeanor.  

TALENTS OR POWERS: Hotaru excels at cooking and other homey tasks. Things he had to learn when he started living by himself. Power wise it’s nothing amazing, he has enhanced strength and endurance due to his demonic lineage. He can focus power into his arms and hands which can be physically seen but since he has little knowledge and training this is as much as he can do.

WHY SOMEONE MIGHT LOVE THEM: Stick around and get to know him and Hotaru turns out to be a pretty nice guy. He is strong and knows how to take care of himself and others as well. He can cook, clean, mend clothes, etc - He likes all that kind of stuff. Hotaru is also kind and gentle when he puts forth the effort and is a family man at heart.

WHY SOMEONE MIGHT HATE THEM: His attitude. He isn’t good with socializing, making friends was never his strong point and after awhile he stopped trying. He can come off as rude and blunt but after while he finds it easier to loosen up and interact. He’ll still tease and playfully bully but it’s his way of trying to be a friend.

HOW THEY CHANGE: Hotaru only became withdrawn and unsociable after being moved to the human world. Even before he noticed any differences from the other kids he wasn’t able to make friends or get along with his classmates. He spent most of his childhood alone and in fights, being moved from group homes to foster homes. Finally he gave up and decided to live on his own to find some peace for himself.

WHY YOU LOVE THEM: Hotaru is my oldest male oc, I’ve had him for years. He’s changed a lot appearance wise but his main concept has always stayed the same. I guess I love him because he tries so hard to be good even after years of feeling like the opposite. He can be stubborn but is learning to trust others and know that he’s not a bad guy and I like seeing his progress.

( For the ship headcanons again bc I've got so many for our platonic ships <3 I imagine that Kura likes to tease Hotaru and she's able to make Haruka join in the shenanigans with her. Even though Haruka's very shy and polite, he can't help but be affected by Kura's energy. Also, I feel that Kura and Hotaru are like a mom and a dad to Haruka sometimes omg. Of course, their trio is more like siblings overall. But yes, they're really a family to him and it makes him so happy )

This is very accurate. It’s only fair that Hotaru gets teased since he likes to tease and poke fun at others too. He tries to be a good sport but sometimes it can get under his skin and he becomes embarrassed and flustered and just ‘knock if off you guys!’ is just so done with everything lol

Hotaru refuses to admit defeat when it comes to alcohol tolerance and Keiya. Of course he loses every time and ends up a drunk mess with Keiya lugging him back home to sleep off his defeat.
