“I am a mom to 5 Amazing children. My youngest was born with down syndrome. When Nate was born the doctors actually told me that they were sorry, immediately I knew that no child deserves to be welcomed into this world with an "I'm sorry.". I created a non-for-profit called I AM WHO I AM which celebrates all children born a bit differently.
Then one day, just when I thought I had life all figured out I got the dreaded phone call. Holly you have breast cancer. Holy crap I have no time for this...
Cancer is an evil that has no mercy. It tried to take my mind, my body and my soul.
No one tells you the honest truth. Cancer sucks. No pink ribbon could ever cover its darkness.
But it wasn't going to defeat me. I put lipgloss on every day and tried to keep my sense of humor intact. I tried to shield my children from my misery but then I realized that within truth you can be set free. I kicked the shit out of cancer. Did any blessings come? Of course, I learned to love bigger, deeper and with more gusto.
I see technicolor now and I savor every morsel, I hug a bit tighter and I dream a lot bigger. I am an author, a radio personality, a talkshow host, a mom, a hairdresser and I am a bold ass fierce warrior.
I am who I am and I am a survivor.”
