WSJ/NBC Poll: Obama A Drag In Midterm Elections
Chuck Todd: With Democrat Loss In Florida, Vulnerable Dems Should 'Run For The Hills'
Joe Baca (D-CA) Degrades Foe As "Bimbo"
Today, Rep. Gloria Negrete McLeod (D-CA) announced her retirement after only one term in Congress. Her 2012 opponent, former Rep. Joe Baca (D-CA), who is now running for Congress in California's 31st Congressional district, didn't wait too long to hurl a parting insult to not only his "longtime foe," but to national Democrats who lined up behind McLeod's candidacy. As The Hill's Ballot Box blog reports:
"[Baca] slammed both Bloomberg and DCCC Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) for meddling in California politics, and said they'd work against him no matter where he ran - and took a final shot at McLeod, his longtime foe, calling her a 'bimbo.'"
'What's the difference? They've conspired to work against me in one, they'd turn around and do the same in the other, right? Would you roll the dice and hope they wouldn't?' he asked rhetorically.
'Look at what we wound up with: Some bimbo who decided not to run again. ... Here we go again now with another New Yorker trying to tell us who's going to be the representative of the 31st. It's up to the people to decide.'"
Woah.
These Endangered House Dems Can Run, But They Can't Hide From Supporting The Stimulus
Today is the five-year anniversary of President Obama signing his stimulus package into law. President Obama promised that the stimulus would "save or create" jobs, but five years later, the country still struggles with high unemployment and record numbers of Americans dropping out of the labor force. The latest cost estimate from the Congressional Budget Office says the stimulus added $830 billion to the spiraling out-of-control national debt.
Many vulnerable Democrats are trying to distance themselves from Obama, hoping the voters will forget they supported the first of Obama's major policies. Among the endangered House Democrats who voted for the stimulus bill not once, but twice, are Reps. John Barrow (D-GA), Tim Bishop (D-NY), Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ), Nick Rahall (D-WV), Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), John Tierney (D-MA), and Tim Walz (D-MN).
These members can run, but they can't hide from the fact that many still vote for Obama's agenda the majority of the time, and they should be held responsible for the failed policies that they helped advance.
Can't You Just Feel The Enthusiasm Among These House Democrats
The Washington Post reported this morning that about 100 House Democrats will be skipping an annual three-day meeting where they'll be discussing strategy for the upcoming midterm election. Among those who will be absent are vulnerable Reps. Patrick Murphy (D-FL) and Joe Garcia (D-FL), as well as Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) and Rep. Pete Gallego (D-TX).
Not only are they running from Pelosi and House Democrat leadership, but they'll also skipping out on a private meeting with President Obama, as the article notes:
The no-shows will miss President Obama, who is planning to visit the Hyatt resort here for his third face-to-face encounters with House Democrats in three weeks.
If one thing is clear, it's that these endangered Democrats would rather be anywhere else than at a secluded resort with Pelosi and Obama.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) Accused Republicans Of Wanting 'People To Starve'
Yesterday, The Washington Post reported that Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) went extreme, saying that Republicans “just want people to starve, and it’s disgusting.” Nadler was criticizing the passage of the Farm Bill, which included a 1% reduction in SNAP benefits. What's odd is that Nadler must also believe that the 89 House Democrats, the Democrat Senate, and Democrat President who supported the Farm Bill must also want "people to starve."
This Democrat Lied In A Fundraising Email And Now Everyone Knows It
Just a few days ago, FEC reports revealed Martha Robertson's campaign had not in fact hired a cyber-security firm to investigate claims of her website being hacked, despite saying it would. Now, WETM reports that Robertson's campaign manager confirms they never hired a firm and have no plans to do so.
'This Bill Is Their Remedy'
"This bill is their remedy," said Shea-Porter on the House floor in 2010, extolling the benefits of ObamaCare for small businesses.
Fast forward: according to a new survey by the National Small Business Association, small business healthcare costs for employees have nearly doubled in the past five years. This has led them to either lay off employees or hold back hiring altogether.
We’re no doctors, but usually a remedy is not supposed make a condition worse.
