to say he's taken aback is a bit of an understatement. it's not the first time he's seen an alien ship come through the sky and land on the earth - he's still trying to process the weight of all of that, even two years later - but it's certainly the first time he's seen a group of aliens walk out of it where the aliens were a tree, a raccoon, and - suprisingly enough, the most shocking - a human.
it's different, and they're not shooting at him or trying to kill anyone or destroy anything, but steve's not willing to take any chances. not when he doesn't know who - or what - they are. he flexes his hand, gripping the straps on his shield more firmly as he stands in front of them.
