Less than a decade after this photo was taken in 1955, Olympian Bill Janss purchased the Sun Valley resort, and developed the land to the east of the resort into a series of condo complexes. The decision, controversial at the time, created housing, vacation rentals, and ski lockers, but dramatically changed the landscape of the resort. Housing development, and the lack of affordable and middle class housing, continues to be the most significant political issue in Sun Valley and the Wood River Valley.
