Question

Is that "young girls chatting up older guys be aware they're manipulating you" post...

Is that like...a joke from something? Is that a reference to a movie or TV show I've never seen? Is it not supposed to be taken seriously because...if not then I'll let it go but...

If that's like an honest to god, "let me give you some good life advice" shit like...we really gotta sit down and have a talk then 

Just because someone types something up on here and posts it and it sounds good doesn't mean it actually A. makes any goddamn sense or B. is actually good advice 

I've seen it a few times and I honestly just...where does that even come from? 

I'm not saying that's just an impossible situation like...yes, sometimes older individuals will take advantage of younger, sometimes more naive individuals but...really? We're going to generalize that to every single situation ever and rob women of their ability to judge situations and just give them this poisonous bullshit like, "Lol don't trust older guys, honey, he's manipulating you!!! He can't get women his own age because he's a loooooser!!!!" 

I... wha??? 

I guess I should...let my mom, who's 17 years younger than my father, let her know this information like...

"Hey mom, I'm gonna need you to have a seat there's something you ought to know... Dad's manipulating you. I know. Take your time. I know, I know you made your own decisions but...all men are terrible, you see. Especially older ones like...there's no way my father was just genuinely interested in you. He's a pig, you see. He can't get a woman his own age. Yes, yes, he did once I realize. And yes, she was a horrible fucking person, but...that has nothing to do with anything!!!! Clearly age is indicative of EVERYTHING and I know what I'm talking about so...just take a moment to absorb that. I'll wait." 

Also that part about keeping a relationship a secret like...how is that even related? Again, if this is like...related specifically to some TV show or something that happened then I guess I just look silly for going on a rant about it but it seems like it's getting passed around as like...legit life advice so I'm just... ??? 

But the secret thing like...there are lots of reasons why someone might keep their relationship private. It doesn't automatically mean uh-oh shady business!!!! 

I'm not sure if they did, but my parents might have kept their relationship on the DL and for good reason because as I noted before...my dad's first wife is a terrible fucking person. And once everyone did find out, she's tried to do everything in her power to make not only my dad's life, but my mother's life a living hell. 

I mean, again, my dad's older and he's a man so I guess he's a terrible person automatically, there's no way his ex-wife could just be a terrible person or my mom could be capable of making her own informed decisions about shit, but...ya know. 

But yeah like...sometimes your relationship isn't everyone else's business? Sometimes you might be trying to hide from an ex or from disapproving friends or parents or whatever else 

Honestly, if you're okay with it then you should be able to choose how you want to handle your relationship 

I'm here for laughing at ridiculous dudes as much as the next guy but like...can we stop with this bullshit where we try to dictate to other girls how they ought to conduct their own relationships or what they should look out for based on some bullshit notions of behavior that supposedly generalizes to an entire population of people? 

You can just as easily be manipulated or used or fucked over by someone your own age or younger than you. Age doesn't automatically give someone a goddamn motive for why they're in something
