How to cheat at monopoly.

Title: How to cheat at monopoly Characters: Modern!Nori, Modern!Fili (Named Felix), Concerned!Dis & Thorin Written for: @princexunderthemountain (basically all my sweet followers) Rating: Gen Summary: Thorin knew from the start it was not a good idea to have Nori babysit. But Nori is great with kids, and Felix likes the idea of being learned how to be able to always win at monopoly. important note: THIS IS NOT PROOFREAD, please don’t shoot me for spelling or grammer mistakes. TT^TT How to cheat at monopoly.

It was not well known that Nori of the Brothers Ri liked babysitting. But in fact he adored it. OF course Nori didn´t mind that not many people were aware of this, they´d be asking him favors all the time! And he couldn´t have that now could he. But he also knew that babysitting was nto something many people would trust him with. At least not people that knew him.

It had been the very reason why Dis and Thorin had looked slightly uncomfortable with the thought of leaving little Felix in his care. But of course Nori was a charmer and a smooth talker. So within two minutes he had managed to convince them all would be alright and that little Felix would be on bed in time. With them out the door the young Durin had peeked at first shyly around the corner before coming up to him and climbed up his leg like a monkey. "Uncle Nori! I thought Dori was coming." He was better at it then Ori but Nori managed to catch him anyway.

"Yes well that was the plan but Dori had a sudden Bingo tournament that came up. So your stuck with me." Nori said, matter of factly and Felix grinned. "That's alright Dori is nice, but he can be a bit boring. Are we going to do something fun? Oh please can we do something fun." Nori chuckled and then thought about it. "I don't know did you do your homework." Blond hair swept all sides as a head bobbed up and down quickly in a form of 'yes'. Nori nodded. "Good then how about we play a game?" Fili looked thoughtful. "Which one?" Nori shrugged and carried Felix into the room to the chest where he knew they kept their board games.

He was Nori, it was his business to know.

"Hm, not a big collection." Felix pushed against his leg lightly to look into the chest as well. "How about-" Nori started before his eyes fell to one of his all time favorite games. "Monopoly." Fili looked up. "Ooh, mom says I'm to young for it, but you will play it with me?" then Felix paused. "Wait Uncle Thorin says you always win at this when you play it with the others. I don't want to lose." Felix pouted the thought of playing a game against someone that always won seemed to suddenly put him off.

And maybe it was the big blue eyes, or that Nori just really had a weak spot for children, but the look floored him right there on the spot. "How about, I teach you how you can always win at this game as well." There was a moment of silence in which the little gears in Felix's head could be heard turning. Then a small nod, followed by a bigger nod before a big boyish grin came onto his face. "You can teach me! Yes, yes, teach me!"

And so Nori taught Felix the rules of monopoly. At first they were the general rules, how it worked, and what the goal of the game was. "Getting stinking riched." Nori had said while tickling his pupil. And really Nori couldn't have asked for a better pupil. Paid attention, asked the right questions and above all, understood what he was saying. After the general rules, it was time for the special rules.

"Now Felix for the next rules I'm gonna teach you, you have to promise to keep them a secret, there rules only winners c an use, and that's what we are aren't we?" Felix nodded. "Now promise me... " Little felix sat up crossing his fingers over his heart. "I promise uncle Nori!" Nori patted his head. "Now I'll be fair of you, some might say that these rules are not exactly fair, but this is a game of who is best at thinking ahead, and that's what these rules will help you do!"

And then the next steps and lessons followed. Nori told Fili that he should be the one to try and divide the money, and when he did add himself an extra 20 bill. "Why a 20 bill?" he has asked and nori had explained. "It doesn't really notice that much if you take an extra one of that, but it can make all the difference in the world! it's small but it could be just the 20 you need to buy a street." fili nodded. And that was just one of the lessons.

By the time nine o clock came rolling by, Nori had bestowed upon Fili all of his wisdom on how to win, in other words cheat, at monopoly. And Nori was proud to note that his little pupil had quick fingers. Plus the fact he had that big innocent face really helped as well. When the clock in the living room sturck ten Nori sighed. "Alright, I already let you stay up an hour past your bedtime. Quickly to bed or your mum will chase me out of the house with a broom!" Felix laughed. "I wouldn't let her! I like it when you baby sit me!" Nori grinned. "Alright charmer, up you go, brush your teeth, in bed by five minutes and you'll get a story."

As said Felix was in bed within five minutes and Nori wasn't even half way with the story when the little Durin had already fallen asleep. Nori snuck out the room and downstairs. Just about to finally actually sit down the door opened and he looked over his shoulder to the doorway where Dis and Thorin came in. "Hey." Nori said, in manner of small greeting before realizing the monopoly board was still open. "Nori, how did it go?" Thorin was first to ask and Nori casually lifted his shoulder. "Alright, no troubles at all." Thorin now noticed the board to and paused. "I see you've been playing monopoly with him? He's a bit young for that." Dis came into the room now to and tutted dissaprovingly. "Nori, there so many other games, this one is just... it always leads to fighting when you guys play it!" She made notion to him and Thorin, but both men knew that she also meant dwalin and the others.

Thorin spluttered a bit indignantly. "That's only cause Nori always cheats." Nori gasped, putting his hand over his heart in faked hurt. "I do not, you guys just can't handle the fact that I'm good at it!" putting everything back in the box and setting the box back in the chest Nori grabbed his jacket. "Nori I don't know how... but you do. Did you cheat poor Felix out of winning chances as well?" Thorin asked and Dis smacked his arm. "Ouch- Dis!"

She shook her head. "Thorin behave yourself, Nori was kind enough to free his schedule and watch after Felix-"She turned to Nori and smiled. "Thank you so much for helping us out today." Nori smiled. Ah, he really did like Dis. Specially when she took his side. Perhaps he was enjoying this moment all the more cause Thorin was just standing there, wanting to make objections but also not wanting to get into a argument with his sister Dis. "It was my pleasure really. If you ever need a babysitter again, give me a call." Nori with that passed them to the door. But paused. "Oh and Thorin, don't accuse me of cheating unless you can prove it. And well, we both know you can't~"

"Nori!"

But Nori was already out the door and snickered as it fell close behind him. Inside Thorin was putting a hand to his forehead. While Dis stood a bit stunned before sighing. "He's totally teaching Felix bad things isn't he?" Thorin nodded. "You think he thought Felix how to cheat?" Thorin nodded again. "We probably shouldn't ask him to babysit again should we?" Thorin shook his head again. "No... no he'll corrupt Felix."

While Dis and Thorin had hoped that Felix would settle for another babysitter; cause both adored Nori as a friend; (Eventhough he cheats - thus Thorin) They were rather adamant about Felix not being to much influenced by Nori. Felix would have none of it however. He wanted Nori as a babysitter and no one else. Though Thorin still relucantly let Nori into the house for babysitting his beloved nephew, had no choice but to accept for Dis settled in with the idea after the third babysitter being bullied away by Felix.

And that's how it came to be, that Nori became the babysitter to the little Durins. Thorin had to live with the impending doom of his nephews being learned more then just the right side of the law. And Dori won almost every bingo night he was now able to attend.
