Last evening we were pleased and proud to support our old pal and former employer Howard Berger and his co-author Marshall Julius at the second event on their whirlwind book tour to promote “Masters of Makeup Effects”. This coffee table book was years in the making. It contains anecdotes, history, and many never before seen photos from decades of effects filmmaking. The book aims to have the same effect on future generations that Al Taylor and Sue Roy’s “Making a Monster” had on my generation of effects artists. . What made this event special for me was the large number of effects legends on stage with Howard and Marshall. They expanded upon stories they contributed to the book as well as provided much wisdom in response to the many well-considered questions from the audience. . Afterwards we all had the opportunity to get our books signed by the panelists! It was a real treat to reconnect with a lot of folks with whom I used to work or at the very least admired from afar. It reminded me how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to be a member of this exclusive artist society!
