Had to cancel the appt i made that is required to get my anxiety meds asjusted or changed bc it's on Monday and they're charging ne 260 bucks up front and atm, I do not know for sure if my car will be coming home from the mechanic.
I hate this shithole country and it's shitass government.
As of today, I have given up on seeing an obgyn about my reproductive health because changes to Hopsitals' policies (at least here in Texas, idk abt other states) that require patients - especially new ones - to pay hundreds of dollars up front whether they have insurance or not. I have insurance with a built-in account specifically for paying those fees, but am still required to loan Baylor 200 dollars before their obgyn will see me, to be paid back whenever my insurance pays the hospital, which can take up to three months. The doc I was referred to is only available two days out of the week, and is booked solid for three months out IF i can see her during the first or last week of a given month. Which is when rent is due and I do not have the money to loan. If I want to be seen in the middle of the month? Two year wait. Other hospitals here have taken this same approach to 'prevent loss of revenue due to fraud', which is bullshit bc insurance is verified before a visit takes place. I have literally stood there while one of my GPs lovely front desk ladies either ran my card or called BCBS to ask for more specifics on something.
Hospitals are businesses here, and they want customers - not patients - who can pay whayever they charge up-front. And boy do they charge. Over 300 dollars for a band aid. Also, insurance can retroactively deny coverage, I've seen them deny all claims going back up to four years, but they probably go back further. Which means that for example, even though my gallbladder surgery ws paid for in total, BCBS could decide that actually, it wasn't covered and then I get to owe the hospital the surgeon works for, and I'm on the hook for everything. Hospital businesses are also getting wise to patient's rights and often you simply never get any response when you try to contact them to say 'Uh actually by law you're required to have programs for low income patients'. They know nobody can afford a lawyer.
So for the forseeable future, I'm stuck being too nauseous to eat and only having enough energy to lay in bed loaded up on anti-emetics for two weeks every month, which means my creative endeavours are pretty much on hold indefinitely.
Eat the rich. Corporations (hospitals are corporations) are not your friends. If you aren't USAmerican, however bad you think healthcare is in the US, multiply that by ten. You still aren't even close. Listen when we tell you why diabetics can't get insulin. When we tell you why people with easily treatable conditions die. I'm miserable for a few weeks at a time, but I'm one of the lucky ones.
I have successfully been de-toothed. Dentist took all my wisdom I'm stupid(er) now.
I don't think I'll ever not be mad that anesthesia doesn't make me off my face in a funny way. Granted bc my roots were all fused to themselves the teeth came out easy-peasy. My appt was at ten, I was out of the chair inside of twenty minutes, dentist was fast as fuck boyeeee. Now it's just waiting and healing and then I will finally be free of the consequences of my wretched luxury bones.
