For context: erosion on that scale occurred as a result of our clear-cutting entire states. This is kind of an odd question but would you or any of your followers happen to know of any spaces for plural folk that have a good amount of Black folk as well that would be open to giving some opinions/answering some questions? We’re an OSDD system that recently developed a fictive of a Black character kind of out of the blue. We all love him dearly, but our body is white. We keep trying to find information on how to best manage and handle our situation but all the information we come across is primarily from other white plural folks, and we really would like to hear from Black plural folks instead. Thank you for all you do.

Lock in, because there are 15 chapters in this book! We are reading two chapters a week, starting with the Introduction and Chapter 1.

In order to save myself time and stress, I will only be posting up to six quotes per chapter. I say this because if I had to quote everything important in this book, I'd quote the whole thing 🤣 so if you have questions about further context, I'll be honest with you- reading the book will almost always be my first response for best understanding.

If you are someone who wants to understand and/or write antiblackness in medicine and disability, this is going to be the book for you! It is focused on antiblackness in medicine in America, with connections to Africa as well. So it's not going to ever be a complete resource. But it's enough to get a grasp of what sorts of systemic worries we may face being ill while Black.

I tested this theory in the wild the other day at work. I was on a call with my department lead and a few other folks and I replied to an email the DL had sent me, thinking that, because he was on this call, he wouldn't notice when I sent it and would not catch me multitasking.

However, he replied to said email within five minutes, asking a question that required an answer. So I answered and was like "Also, I was going to apologize for answering emails during this call, but I see we're both here at the Devil's Sacrament, so I don't think an apology is necessary."

I watched him read that on screen and try not to laugh. And then at the end of the call as everyone started saying goodbye, he goes, "Hey, MJ, I meant to tell you. I like your shoelaces."

And I looked straight into my camera, stone cold serious, and said, "Thanks. I stole them from the president."

And the rest of the team was like, "What...the fuck...?" before he abruptly ended the call for everyone.

So now my DL and I know this about each other. He could be any one of us.
