what are the contrasts between fallen and calamity?
you and @bllaaaaarrgh are literally my favorite people right now oh my goodness okay so- (i was gonna put in the photos for ref but tumblr is being RUDE so i'll fix it later)
The difference in their outfits!
So this one is probably a lot more noticeable that the others but Fallen is fully armored, he's protected and unreachable to anything from the outside, however also constricted in his movements by, in essence, the royal family. Calamity on the other hand is wearing the hylian tunic. He's not marked as seperate from everyone else/property of the crown, he's fitting in with everyone else. It's also made of lighter materials, so he's more free in his movements as well as able to let in and feel influence from outside (symbolism baby!)
Fallens is really short, more close cropped. It's a military cut, stripping him of individuality. Calamity's is long, and like him, wild, untamed, free to flow yk, it's an authentic demonstration of himself, rather than a show of who is is expected to be.
subtle, not as important or symbolic, but there! Fallen is very stone faced, looking dead ahead, no room for distractions, and no room for personal feelings. Calamity is more openly expressive and relaxed, his feelings aren't extreme in the sketch, but he's able to express as much or as little as he wants.
4. The Ears! (this one is my favorite!)
Fallen's ears are pin straight, directly out to the side of his head. Again, very poised very perfect. There's no movement, no individuality, just ideal presentation. Calamity's ears are pointing in two different directions! (yes this is a skill he has, he can swivel both of his ears independently of each other, but that's not the point here) They're directed in whichever direction he decides to focus them in on! He's able to choose what he deems important and what he wants to skip over!
More deep(ish) symbolism time! (like that's not what the rest of this has been) The four flames around Fallen correlate to the four champions in a way. He was always surrounded, always in the middle of this great plan, but ultimately nobody was ever with him. He was a tool, and there was always a disconnect between him and the rest of them. (and it's fitting for him to be a ghost. nobody truly saw him while he was alive, and now he'll continue to not be seen except by those who know the truth about him. it's kinda poetic in a tragic way) Calamity on the other hand is surrounded by the champions abilities. No matter what he does or where he goes, he always has others with him. He's still in the middle of the plan, but now he has others there with him to build him up.
