Radiohead - How to disappear completely "Thom Yorke is on the record as saying that the song was inspired by Michael Stipe of REM. They were touring together and Thom was overwhelmed by all the stress and Stipe told him that whenever he felt overwhelmed, what he would do is sit in the middle of his hotel room with all the lights turned off and close his eyes and repeat over and over "I'm not here, this isn't happening." One of my favorite Radiohead songs and particularly because of the emotion it evokes. Sad but empowering."- angelolarte·
