Contribute to HWDYKYM!
For over a decade, dozens of people have contributed to How Well Do You Know Your Moon (HWDYKYM) with reflections about their traumatic experiences in the church, reports and analyses on church history, and updates on events and current controversies in the church, even leaking and exposing major secrets hidden by leadership. The past five or so years, though, our contributors have dwindled to a handful of dedicated people.
The moderators here at HWDYKYM just wanted to invite people once again to contribute to the blog.
There’s currently a lot of ex-members writing and talking about their experiences of the church, and a growing network of vocal ex-2nd generation supporting one another in the midst of exiting the church and working through church-related trauma. Within a few months of the Falling Out podcast, a number of active 2nd generation have begun the process of leaving the church due to listening to it. This is an exciting time, and one where a lot more people are paying attention to the cruel and oppressive systems and culture of the Unification Church, inside and outside the church.
Perhaps you’ve been wanting to share your story, or looking for somewhere to have your voice heard, or you’ve been sitting on an essay for a few years that you haven’t been able to share... we invite you to send us your work!
For those who are wanting to tell your story: even if your story seems small, or insignificant, or maybe “less bad” than others, please know that your story is important. Many of us 2nd gen are trying to piece together our childhoods, to understand and see our lives more fully. All of our stories are connected, and by sharing what we experienced and know, we can help others make sense of their own lives.
