Taŋyáŋ yahípi
Háu mitákuyapi! Welcome to Hóyeya. Taŋyáŋ yahípi. Things are just barely getting off the ground, and ideas are still being thrown around. This is hopefully the beginning of something very beautiful. The goal is to create more materials for people to be able to listen, read, write, and speak our Lakȟóta language. And also to create a platform for any Lakȟóta artists, educators, and culture bearers to offer their creations, teachings and/or performances.
The first project in the works is a full album written and recorded by me (Alex FireThunder), featuring 16 songs all written in Lakȟóta featuring drum, vocals, and sometimes a guitar.
Future projects include Lakȟóta language workshops, methods of teaching language consultations, a free streaming podcast featuring Lakȟóta speakers, children's books in Lakȟóta, classroom materials, Lakȟóta language games, and much more!
Hóyeya is open to contributions, collaborations, and ideas from anyone interested in Lakȟóta language and culture. Please don't be shy to get in touch!
