Hiiii, can we cowrite ?
Yes! There are no restrictions to how many authors collaborate on a work, as long as the work completed still follows the rules of the fest!

hi! i wanted to get some clarification on the fest policy for including ace/arophobia in fics. the rules here say that any and all content is allowed as long as it follows ao3 TOS and is tagged appropriately, but the discord says no aphobia or other hateful ideologies in fics? as someone writing from personal experience i often include at least internalized acephobia in my fics, and some of the prompts include acephobia as plot points and stuff
The rules on the tumblr post are the current rules, I did not update the ones on discord (will be updating that shortly). There is no mention of aphobia being banned in the rules on the discord server, though. If you see something that say that, please point it out to me and I can revise that.
The "no hateful ideologies" is meant to keep people from creating works that have ace/aro-phobic messages. By which I mean works that paint those ideologies in a positive light and thus are spreading hate.
Now your work doesn't have to end with a happy ending like fixing all phobia in the world but I do want to keep this fest having a more positive light shone on ace/aro identities instead of hate.
I understand that facing these struggles are a part of real life for all of us in the community and I do not wish to downplay that real impact. At the same time, I do not wish to discourage people from creating a work that will be amazing and helpful for them to create so be mindful of the overall message that is being conveyed by including that element.
I read through the guidelines and don't think this was mentioned, so apologies if it was already and I just missed it! Are we allowed to talk about the fest and what we're writing outside of the discord server?
Yes, you are allowed to talk about the work you are creating outside of the discord server! The fest is not anonymous or anything like that so you are allowed to discuss it anywhere you like.
The server is more just an explicitly aroace spec friendly space for HP fans to gather as well as to discuss the fest.
Are you guys allowing self prompt this year?
Yes, self-prompting is allowed! When claiming opens there will be an option to say that you are self-prompting instead of picking a prompt.
Adding this as a more in general tidbit. That will also be the best method for people who are interested in creating a podfic. Indicate that you are self-prompting as podfic of a specific work and share the link as well as any permissions you have obtained from the original creator to create it.
