Do you ever reference anything when coming up with voices for characters, or is it all on the fly?
It depends! Most of the voices I do come from what I ended up thinking of when I played the games for the first time, so in that sense they’re definitely made up on the fly, but that’s not to say they all come from nowhere.
I will say a lot of them come entirely from scratch (like Phoenix, Apollo, or the Judge) and a few are even based on canon (like Dhurke or Payne), but a lot also have roots in “bad impressions” of other voices.
For example, my Edgeworth voice started as an impression of Stewie Griffin when I first came up with it, and my Redd White started as Patrick Warburton.
