Story-Share Booth
The Story-Share Booth gives Festival attendees a chance to share memories, tell stories, and talk about their experiences with jazz.
Within these jazz stories, Story-Share project directors Stephanie Lentz and Tocarra Mallard have noticed themes of family, childhood, social life, and education. This project records an important oral history in Chicago – one that we are very glad to have the opportunity to hear and to share with you. Listen to stories from last year’s booth here.
The 2014 Story-Share Booth will be located on the Festival Midway both Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28.
A few questions that Story-Share Booth interviewers asked include:
What is your earliest memory of jazz in Chicago?
Do you recall a time when something ”clicked” with jazz?
What about the South Side affects jazz?
What about jazz affects the South Side community?
What do you hope for the future of jazz music in Chicago?
