“what happened on that island?” is a question that is very frequently muttered aboard the wax rain.
whenever they overhear it, varian and hugo immediately go “NOTHING HAPPENED ON THAT ISLAND!”, which makes things far more suspicious.

cassandra sprang out of the wings so hard, she might have increased the amount of chapters in “her compass”.
what a disaster of a lad.
i’ve written about two thousand words of a “her compass” chapter, so, if things go well, there should be another update soon!
something about how rapunzel is spoken of with pity and longing, while varian is whispered about with fear and suspicion.
this carried over into “her compass”, with the vanished princess and the witch-captain. i think it’s just part of the essence of their characters.

*beckoning you enticingly with a single acorn* it’s chapter nine… prepare for sirens and sorrow… with some varigo in the next one, if you comment some things you liked about the current chapter… c’mon…
“her compass” update tomorrow! read chapter eleven if you haven’t, and prepare for some varigo…
i have, of course, worked very hard on varigo’s dynamic in “her compass”. there’s going to be payoffs that make the reader kick their feet, even if they are standing up.
however, its early stages keep making me envision hugo as nick wilde and varian as judy hopps.
not fun.
