I had to remove all my work from G Drive because of their AI ish, so i took a little writing break as I came up with a cloud based alternative. Now i'm back at it and the little hiatus I think helped immensely. It allowed me to cut out some of the stuff i was trying to say and go with that I NEEDED to say. I have one scene left to write and chapter 4 will be ready to proofread and then post :) Sorry for such the delay. I hate having unfinished work out there but it is what it is!
Since I last posted a fic (and even before that) I’ve been jumping back and forth between some multichaptered things I’m working on, trying to get something to stick. I’m happy to say one of my works is coming along rather nicely and is quickly reaching the halfway mark. I know its been a while since I posted something more than just 2-4 chapter thing, but i’m really excited (and nervous) about this fic and i hope you like it!
I don’t have a date for it at the moment, but i’m working really hard to get it finished and i appreciate the patience. Right now I’m thinking I will be ready to post the first chapter sometime in the middle or end of November. We might have a thanksgiving fic on our hands!
Anyway, thought I’d mention it so its not a complete surprise when it starts posting. I uh ..have a great Sunday! I’mma go back to writing now.
Here is a little snippet of the first chapter of my fic titled Love, In Other Words
Chloe Jane Decker, daughter of a policeman and the reluctant offspring of the vampire queen herself.
That is who she is and despite a few mistakes when she was younger – specifically of the hot tub variety – she had a solid head on her shoulders. Her intelligence is what saw her make Detective faster than any woman in her department and it’s also what makes her have the highest closing rate of any other Detective in the city. All of these facts mean she is good at what she does, but they also mean she can’t look the other way when certain lines are crossed. Hence her being partner-less and shunned. Well, until she met Lucifer Morningstar.
She supposes she is lucky in that regard, to have met someone who wants to be her partner. Sure, it had begun as near constant attempts to get in her pants, and though those attempts had all but disappeared, it is still nice to know she had someone on her side. Lucifer Morningstar is many things, childish, narcissistic, selfish to name a few, but she is also certain he is trustworthy. She likes having someone she can trust.
Sure, he’s handsome, any woman with eyes can see that. And she’d be lying if she said that his flirting and gawking didn’t do something for her confidence. She had been lacking that lately, since the divorce, but Lucifer made everything feel…simple again.
Wait, what were we talking about?
Right, the point is, she is smart. She is intelligent and it isn’t easy to get one over on her. And yet …
And yet.
And yet Chloe sits across the interrogation table watching yet another suspect mentally undress her partner instead of answering the question. The lack of attention irks her.
Sure, to the untrained eye it might sound like she’s jealous, but why would she be jealous? She had her own life going on and there was nothing this tall, well-dressed, man-child could do that would make it better.
There might be a few things he could do.
She sits up quickly, kicking the intrusive thoughts her out of her head. “Thank You,” Chloe says, shutting the folder on the desk before sliding out of her chair.
“Uh, Detective. Are you sure we are finished asking her questions?” she hears. She pauses at the door and turns to find Lucifer with that dumb look on his face. That stupid, not at all sexy, look of confusion.
“Yup. Pretty sure,” she grits as she swings the door open.
Lucifer clears his throat. “Yes, well, I suppose we have your contact information should any more dismembered body parts turn up,” Chloe hears him say as the door closes.
Chloe huffs and approaches her desk, slamming the file onto an already piled up stack of papers. Behind her, she hears the tell-tale slap of Lucifer’s shoes as he approaches and her eyes turn to him. He spins like a dancer as he moves from standing to sitting in his chair by her desk.
“Darling, are you feeling well?”
“Fine.”
Short. Quick. Annoyed. Disgusted. Not jealous. Her lips purse as she sorts through paperwork.
He doesn’t say anything for a long time until eventually her curiosity becomes much stronger than her annoyance. Her eyes flip to him to find him staring at her, not at all convinced of anything being fine. He watches her as if he knows he should say something but isn’t sure what.
Her eyes flip down to his lips and the brief flutter in her stomach is squashed the second he opens his mouth. “It’s just- it’s unlike you to end an interrogation so abruptly,” he questions as he leans forward slightly. “Are you menstruating?”
Sorry I’ve been MIA as of recent. I was on a social media hiatus to prevent myself from getting spoiled on anything 5B related. I was not spoiled and BOY was it worth it!
So, here’s an update on what is going on since i’ve gotten a few comments on my fics about this. btw, thank you for reading them! Every time I see someone has gotten to the end of my long fic I want to like...lower a flag to half staff or something just to appreciate that you made it all the way through that word monster.
Anyway, I digress.
Yes, I am working on a sequel to Like a Prayer. It will take some time as I am still coming up with ideas for it, but in the meantime I do have a few other works in the progress. Only one of them is 5B related, the others are AU’s.
Yes, I am also considering an addition / furthering the storyline for my Week from Hell series. It was hella fun to write and theres so much left to explore.
Also yes, Hi. My name is Haley and I have a cliffhanger problem. I am bad with open endings and fics. I think that is just who I am and it is possibly related to lingering Season 3 trauma. Sorry not sorry, though I am working on it.

Because that is what I do, I added a scene to the end of Chapter 8. When I am done writing that I will proofread it again and post it.
Then, we are down to the last chapter! DUN DUN DUNNNN.
Excitement. Nervousness. A sense of completion but also a sense of loss.
This has been a transformative experience for me because i’m not a finisher by any means but somehow finishing this has both been the most difficult and rewarding experience for me.
I’m so excited for the final reveal but I’m also very nervous you won’t like it. Either way it is what it is and hopefully this experience has been as pleasant for you all as it has been for me.
What is next after this? I have a few short fics written and waiting in the wings (I write to take my mind off writing, how fucked up is that?) and I might turn some of these unused sex scenes into one off smut scenes.
I’m having a close friend beta my next fic (which is about 4 chapters long) because the premise is a little dicey. Dicey as in I love the premise and think it works but ... it’s so off the canon rails that i’m concerned it might not be well received. So i’m shoving it into my friend’s face for them to tell me yes or no.
After that most likely a break. I need to catch up on a few other shows and I’ve been meaning to watch old guard on Netflix, it looks very interesting. So you know ... stuff.
Ezria makes a big decree as new ruler of hell, Lucifer learns something about his father, Amenadiel pushes Father Kyle too hard, Dan continues to have bad dreams, Maze holds up her end of the bargain by accompanying Natalie to a wedding, Natalie and Maze come to an agreement, Calmos gets his freedom and Chloe makes a promise.
