Best character trope: popular/asshole character progressively becomes a better person and complete badass over the course of the story

"What was that??"
It's that time, bois
something about driving back to college after a day with my family, a good day with my family after so many not-good years at home, the clouds are parting over the hills where it's been hailing and storming all week. and the sunset is filtering through that crack in the thick carpet of clouds to illuminate half the snow on the mountains in blinding white. turning onto campus and watching the rainwater trickle over a marshy ditch while sitting at the stoplight.
arriving at my room, opening my window to let in the fresh freezing air, stowing a tupperware of my mother's cooking in the mini-fridge. eating leftovers from the lunch my dad bought me while i listen to the 90's radio on spotify- my parents' favorite music, the soundtrack to my childhood.
thinking about how my dad had never told me he loved me until i moved out, and now he says it every time i go back to school. thinking about the unrestrained joy in my little brothers' eyes when i told them i'd buy them any size of boba they wanted, since i have a job now. thinking about how, no matter how much we fight, my mom has kept some of my favorite candy in the kitchen for me to take back whenever i visit.
march is in two days. every year, winter is rough. but i always pull through to spring.
