well i feel like half empty half full is like, is the grass greener, does she look on the bright side or is she more pessimistic, and honestly i feel like it could swing both ways depending on the situation. like for example if its something in terms of determination, like her being determined to find terry, she seemed very optimistic about finding her in that she was confident that she could, and she felt that she would be able to talk to her mother and get things figured out / get smoe questions answered. imo it would take a good level of optimism in order to go out on a venture like that all by yourself, and eventually it brings her all the way to chicago which is absolutely insane for a thirteen year old to be able to do that.
she also showed the same determination when looking for will, and even when she watched wills body being dragged from the river, even when mike was sitting there physically telling her that what she did sucked, that she wasnt their friend, that she hurt him and betrayed them, even when she was LITERALLY sitting there listening to all of that, she still continued to hold faith to what she knew was true and telekinetically find the channel to the upside down because she was absolutely positive that she was correct, that mike was wrong, and that will was still out there. which really takes a lot of optimism. its not really glass half full in the traditional sense of the term, ie not so much about positivity persay but more about perseverance and determination than anything which is the angle i was going at it when deciding.

but for real, ya boi is nothin more than a straight up ravenclaw. all y’all thinkin i was gna put him in slytherin ? fuckin sike, every single person who’s called me out for writin nothin but slytherins and gryffindors owes me 50 bucks bc he’s ! such a ravenclaw it pains me.
in regards to convention, he’s definitely not the typical ravenclaw portrayed : lucas is very academically smart, but that’s not where his wit and rationality shine through the most. i also think his ranger trope might throw some people off and put him in gryffindor, but that is all just interests. in terms of his actual mindset and personality, yes, he’s loyal and brave, but he’s also logical and seeks to justify each of his beliefs with a valid reason behind them.
he’s adamant in his distrust in eleven at first, refuses to call her el, thinks her claims are trivial and even mocks them, and i don’t care what none of y’all say, it was justified. i love miss jane ives as much as the next person, but when lucas’ friend goes missing and a strange child in a dirty hospital gown and uh, has superpowers suddenly stumbles across them in the same woods will got lost in ? dude.
lucas believed eleven had a connection to will’s disappearance, and ultimately, she did. he made a very logical decision and picked head over heart, while i think he would have had a completely different reaction if they weren’t already looking for will. lucas is very good at setting priorities: find will, keep eleven safe, kill the demogorgon. he has very intense emotions and loves his friends dearly, but he also manages to not let that cloud his judgment in decision-making.
he also fervently avoids the unknown : lucas was the last to accept will may still be alive, because the very real notion of will being dead is less fear-inducing to him than the abstract one of him being in a parallel universe. lucas applies very real concepts to the upside down in order to comprehend it, and mr. clarke’s explanations of concepts are likely super helpful to him in handling the surreal nature of hawkins.
i think he does have some tendencies in both slytherin and gryffindor, and would be tempted to put him in either one, but ultimately his mindset is way too calculative and analytical ( he frequently makes statements in a kind of this happened therefore this is true and that is false, almost like a mathematical equation ) and he has a witty snark that never ends. ya boi’s ravenclaw thru n thru !

“ don’t move . ” a demand , as forceful as it is grave . beyond the stark veil of nothingness as eyes adjust to the blank her stomach becomes tangled up in the wire cage of her ribs . they fall into breathless silence , not wanting the thing that lurked beyond the shadows to be made aware of their presence . better it think us dead than alive . not wanting it to smell the fear on their breaths or catch the rhythm of her heart pounding so hard in her chest she was sure steve could feel it beneath his feet beating in the floor . a sound like wet clicking rotors shifts its great weight beyond the dark and in a sudden breath a final act of desperation : “ run ! ”
