The plan calls for high occupancy toll lanes from Jefferson Avenue in Newport News to Bowers Hill in Chesapeake.
A plan calling for $1 and $2 tolls on the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel and the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel will make its way to transportation officials on Thursday.
The Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission's (HRTAC) Funding Strategies Advisory Committee rolled out a financial plan during its meeting Tuesday morning that calls for implementing $1 and $2 tolls on the HRBT and the MMMBT — two critical arteries that connect the Peninsula to South Hampton Roads — by 2025 and 2035, respectively.
The plan also calls for similar tolls on the High Rise Bridge in Chesapeake.
No toll was considered for the James River Bridge, which also links a number of suburban localities to the urban cores of the Peninsula, according to the plan, and no public-private partnerships were included.
Voting members of the transportation accountability commission are set to review the plan at a meeting Thursday afternoon at the Regional Building, located at 723 Woodlake Drive in Chesapeake.
