Homestuck Anime Project Booster Post

Hey, there. New mod San stepping up for a minute or two to introduce myself, hope it isn’t too intrusive for this blog.

I’m part of the concept team, so my job’s been finished pretty early in the project. I haven’t really had the chance to input much else since the other things needed are outside my talent range or I would have to put in more time than I have available at a given time. We have a bunch of production slots open, and while we are technically making progress, there aren’t many people participating. If you or someone you know can help out, please go to the deviantART site where most of the behind-the-scenes stuff takes place and ask how you can help out. Another way is to reblog this message and send posts from the Project as often as you can, send it to people you know, get word out there, ask us here on the blog as well. We can’t do it alone, so please help us out with this. I’ve watched it grow so much, and I would really like to see how it ends up.

HSAP Sound Auditions

If you're looking to audition for a sound position for , these are the revised audition guidelines for all the sound-related positions (minus voice actors, all auditions for which are currently on ...

The new packet for auditions for anything sound-related (besides VAs, we’re currently not in need of new VAs) is up! 

It’s simplified and (hopefully) easier to understand, so please take a look if you are interested in helping out with the soundtrack for our project.

quick update

In case you’re wondering what HSAP is doing now:

We’ll be releasing the results of the poster contest within a few days (we had a voting miscount, our bad!) and finishing sending out prizes for said contest.

A new set of guidelines for auditions for all sound-related positions (except voice actors) is set to be released soon. You should be able to audition using these guidelines even if you were looking at the old audition info sheets for individual positions.

We’re doing some internal stuff to make sure communication flows better; a lot of members have been here since we started about 2 years ago and not everybody is still able to be as active as they once were. There may be a potential to join as solely an admin in the future, but it’s likely we’ll promote somebody who’s already pretty familiar with things.

If you worked on an audition in the past, or a partial audition especially, we may be contacting you (again, for some of you) in the near future. Some of the guidelines we chose for auditions were a bit more strict than we thought necessary and we believe there are a fair number of people that would make good additions to team. We’d love to have anybody interested in our project help out, especially if you have skills in the art departments!

Wrapping up work on the trailer, mostly in the art areas. We want to promote the group, but also hope to show you a taste of what kind of work we’ll be doing if you’re not sure you want to volunteer as an artist. No date is currently set for the release of that yet, though a fair portion is complete and our (currently sole) animator is feeling less ill.

Hey followers just letting you know that there is a group that has been working on making an anime of Homestuck if you haven’t already heard of them. They’re in need of some more animators to speed things up, so if any of you have animating experience and are interested, check out their page! They’ve done a lot of hard work to get this project rolling, and I can’t wait to see the results.

We’re looking into starting some new fan contests, so please come visit our DA site and help us decide what kind of contest(s) to run!

Additionally, we are still looking for new artists in a variety of areas. We are a pretty large project when it comes to watchers, followers, etc but we do still lack in visual artists in several areas. Please click the link to see if there are any volunteer jobs you might be interested in as well!

Licensing

Just in case you're interested, at the suggestion of hesperidia (who's pretty familiar with Creative Commons type stuff), we're making sure everybody is aware of what we're licensing this under. It's not really any surprise, but it's covered under CC-BY-SA-NC. Basically, it's free for redistribution, and if an artist leaves the team their work is going to stay in the project as a part of the final product. 

We've updated our FAQ on DA and here on Tumblr to reflect this, but for most of you this announcement is pretty much just a reiteration of what we've already said this project would be (plus a tiny bit of legal backup, just in case we have any *unlikely* issues in the future).

How is the project coming so far. Are you making any significant progress.

To be honest, we have quite a lot done, but it can feel very slow! For a project of this magnitude it’s very difficult to communicate effectively when everybody has their own responsibilities in addition to this (high school and college for most of us) and we never see each other in person!

However, I am very hopeful that we’ll be adding a new animator or two to our team in the near future and that our short trailer will be up around the end of January. Though the trailer isn’t complete, there is also work being done on Episode 1 (which is not recycling anything into the trailer) and so far it has been quite fun to watch! A lot of storyboarding and background work right now, as well as some team-gathering work.
