What I like about Morrowind so much over Oblivion and Skyrim is that the world is so ALIEN. Not I-have-seen-it-all before pseudo medieval like in Cyrodil and Skyrim, but weird varied creatures, weird architecture, weird looking people, fascinating (sometimes really horrible aspects of) culture. It is also much more immersive. No quest markers, comprehensive journalling, only in-game 'fast travel'. LOTS of books doing an enormous amount of optional worldbuilding. Normal goods like bread and cloths having normal value. Multiple factions representing different kinds of demographic groups and revealing power structures and different kinds of assholes. Complex mythology.
